The Japanese time was already September 18. The schedule is historical: the PC version arrived on Steam and Epic Games Store in 2024, before the game’s later Xbox release.
Final Fantasy 16 PC release times by region
Square Enix’s regional announcement gave one PC download start, expressed in three time zones:

| Region and time zone | Local release time | Local date |
|---|---|---|
| Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) | Approximately 7 a.m. | September 17, 2024 |
| British Summer Time (BST) | Approximately 3 p.m. | September 17, 2024 |
| Japan Standard Time (JST) | Approximately 11 p.m. | September 18, 2024 |
The date difference is a time-zone rollover, not a separate Japanese launch schedule. Square Enix’s regional timing announcement lists the approximate times, and its launch notice confirms PC availability began on September 17, 2024.
Where the PC version launched
The PC release was available through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Square Enix announced the September 17 date on August 20, 2024, and said a free demo was available on both storefronts. Demo save data could carry over to the full game at launch. See Square Enix’s PC release announcement for those launch details.

How the PC release fits the wider launch timeline
The PC schedule should not be confused with the later Xbox release. Square Enix lists the game’s platform dates as PlayStation 5 on June 22, 2023; PC on Steam and Epic Games Store on September 17, 2024; and Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC on June 9, 2025. The PC date in this article is therefore the historical launch date for that platform, not the game’s newest platform date. Square Enix’s product information page lists the platform availability.

At the PC launch, the Standard Edition included the base game. The Complete Edition bundled the base game with both DLC chapters, Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide; the chapters were also offered individually or as an Expansion Pass. Those are launch-era edition details, not confirmation of current prices or offers. Square Enix outlined them in its August 2024 announcement.
