Nintendo has released Wave 1 of the paid Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Expansion Pass on October 15, 2026, the same day it announced the three-wave add-on. The pass costs $34.99 in the United States, requires the complete game, and includes future content planned for winter 2026 and 2027. The expansion is exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2.
What Wave 1 adds today
Wave 1 introduces prototype weapons for the game’s four heroes. Nintendo describes the weapons as being modeled after the Heroes’ Relics from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, giving players an immediate equipment-focused addition rather than a new campaign or character roster.

Nintendo’s announcement describes the release as an Expansion Pass DLC package delivered in three waves: “This Expansion Pass DLC will add extra content in three different waves, with Wave 1 coming out…today!” Wave 1 is available on October 15, 2026, while the later waves remain scheduled releases.

Expansion Pass roadmap
Wave 2 — winter 2026
The second wave is scheduled for winter 2026. Its announced content includes four gods—Mars, Aurora, Smyrnos and Jurah—along with new outfits. Nintendo has not announced a more specific release date for this wave, so the winter window should not be read as a launch-day guarantee.
#1 Best Overall
- Here, order is maintained by the Church of Seiros from its headquarters at Garreg Mach Monastery, home to the Officers Academy, where you’re invited to teach one of its three mighty houses: The Black Eagles, The Blue Lions, and The Golden Deer.
- Which house will you choose?
- As its professor, you must lead your students in class and in tactical RPG battles wrought with strategic, new twists to overcome.
Wave 3 — 2027
The third wave is planned for 2027 and is the broadest part of the announced roadmap. It will add new stories, additional allies, new class types and more. Nintendo has not yet specified the individual story chapters, ally list, class details or release date.
Prices and purchase options
Nintendo’s listed US prices are:
| Option | US price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Base game | $69.99 | Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave |
| Expansion Pass | $34.99 | Waves 1, 2 and 3 |
| Game-plus-pass bundle | $104.99 | The base game and all three Expansion Pass waves |
The pass is an all-or-nothing purchase: Nintendo says the individual waves cannot be bought separately. The full version of Fortune’s Weave is required, so the $34.99 pass is not a standalone way to play the game. Buying the separately priced game and pass would total $104.98 before any regional tax, while Nintendo’s listed bundle is $104.99.

How the pass fits the game
Fortune’s Weave is set in the Dagdan Empire, where fighters enter the Heroic Games for a chance to have one wish granted. Wave 1 expands that setting through hero weapons inspired by Three Houses; Wave 2 adds named divine figures and outfits; and Wave 3 is intended to extend the narrative and gameplay structure with stories, allies and classes.
Rank #3
- The Officers Academy is home to three houses: The Black Eagles with house leader Edelgard, The Blue Lions with house leader Dimitri, and The Golden Deer with house leader Claude
- As a professor, lead students in their academic lives and on the battlefield
- A turn-based, tactical RPG that puts new twists on strategic battling
- Freely roam Garreg Mach Monastery and interact with students in a variety of ways to bond with them. In the classroom, tutor your students to help them
- Grow in the skill sets required to become specific classes
Should you buy the pass now?
Buy now if you want the complete roadmap
The pass is the only way to secure all three announced waves, and Wave 1 is already available. It is the straightforward choice for players who know they want the planned weapons, gods, outfits, story material, allies and class types rather than deciding wave by wave.
Wait if you only want to evaluate Wave 1
Because Nintendo does not sell the waves individually, waiting is a way to judge the base game and the first weapon set before committing to future content. However, Nintendo has not announced a separate purchase route for later waves, so postponing the pass does not create a wave-by-wave buying option.
Rank #4
- Reawaken as a Divine Dragon and take down a thousand-year-old threat
- Take on turn-based, tactical combat and use Emblem Rings to customize your strategy
- Collect Emblem Rings and use them to summon heroes from past Fire EmblemTM games
- Fire EmblemTM Engage launches on January 20, 2023 alongside Fire Emblem Engage: Divine Edition featuring a steelbook case and art book
Choose the bundle for a new purchase
New players can buy the $104.99 game-plus-pass bundle. Existing owners of the $69.99 game can add the $34.99 pass; the listed prices are effectively the same total, subject to taxes and any Nintendo promotions.
What has not been announced
Nintendo’s launch information does not provide sales figures, player counts, review scores, estimated completion times or performance statistics for the Expansion Pass. It also does not give exact launch dates for Waves 2 and 3, detailed specifications for the prototype weapons, or a complete breakdown of the future stories, allies and class types. Those details remain unconfirmed until Nintendo publishes them.
