Where to get Fire Knight’s Shortsword
Farm dual dagger-wielding Fire Knights in Shadow Keep. The Fire Knight variant guide identifies these enemies as the source and lists the Shortsword among their drops; Eldenpedia reports a 4% drop rate. That rate is a game-reference listing, not an independently verified guarantee, so expect repeated kills rather than a fixed number of attempts.

How the weapon works
Innate fire damage and heavy attack
The Shortsword deals fire damage in addition to physical damage. Its item description says it is “Blessed with a flame incantation” and that “Further flame imbuement will amplify the effect and greatly increase the armament’s power.” Its heavy attack is also reported to strike twice, which can matter to players who value multi-hit attacks.
The item guide notes interactions between innate fire damage and fully applied Frostbite, as well as interactions with some enemies. Those details are sensitive to affinity and game-patch mechanics, so they should not be treated as a universal damage strategy.

Upgrades, skills, and affinities
It upgrades with regular Smithing Stones, and both its skill and affinity can be changed. Quickstep is the listed starting skill. The available choices let you adapt the weapon to your build, but the item information does not establish one best affinity: physical versus elemental damage, your attributes, enemy defenses, selected skill, and interest in the double-hit heavy attack all affect the choice.

It is a compact option for a character who meets the Faith requirement and wants a dagger with built-in fire damage, changeable affinities, and a reported two-hit heavy attack. Its listed base scaling is D in Strength, Dexterity, and Faith, but that alone does not determine its performance after upgrades or with a particular affinity. Compare it against the other daggers available to your build and test it against the enemies you intend to fight rather than assuming one setup is best everywhere.
