Call of Duty: Mobile’s Season 11 — 6th Anniversary stood out in 2025 because it added a new major mode, brought Street Fighter 6 abilities into limited-time play, and layered anniversary events and progression rewards onto the usual seasonal content. That makes “most ambitious” a persuasive description of its breadth—not a measured ranking: Activision has not published a common metric for comparing development effort, update size, or player impact across seasons.
1. DMZ: Recon added a new major mode
The biggest structural change was DMZ: Recon, which Activision described as the third major mode alongside Multiplayer and Battle Royale. It brought squad-based PvPvE extraction play to Call of Duty: Mobile: teams of three enter a map, take on contracts, collect loot and improve their gear, then attempt to extract before the match ends. Failing to extract means losing what the squad gathered.
The mode launched with two locations: Serpent Island and the indoor Building 21. It also included factions, missions, a Black Market, and more than 20 earnable weapon camos, according to Activision’s Season 11 announcement. The combination of a distinct match structure, objectives, and extraction stakes made this a more substantial addition than another map or weapon alone.
2. Street Fighter 6 changed limited-time gameplay
The Street Fighter 6 crossover was not only a set of themed cosmetics. Its limited-time Multiplayer mode centered on Prizefighter gloves and character moves, while Battle Royale players could find items granting abilities associated with Ryu, Akuma, Chun-Li, and Cammy.

The collaboration also brought themed operators, weapon blueprints, and Secret Cache rewards. Its significance is the mix: it added crossover content to existing modes while also changing how players could fight during the event. These were seasonal offerings, not a claim that the crossover remains available now.
3. Weapon animations were part of an ongoing visual effort
Season 11 updated first-person weapon animations. Activision framed the work as part of a longer visual optimization effort, rather than a complete graphics overhaul or a quantified performance improvement. The announcement said that “more weapon animation updates” were planned for future seasons in 2026.

That distinction matters: the update included visible presentation work, but Activision did not specify how many weapons changed or publish a measured graphics or performance gain.
4. Anniversary rewards ran alongside multiple progression tracks
Season 11 gave players several parallel ways to work toward rewards. Anniversary events offered dedicated rewards; the Challenge Pass divided missions into Standard, Special, and Elite tiers; and Secret Caches could be earned through events and login rewards. Activision said four Secret Caches would be available daily through login rewards, in addition to other earning methods.

This layered structure helped make the anniversary more than a single event: players had separate missions and reward paths to pursue across the season.

Season 11’s Battle Pass combined items earned through progression with paid offerings. Activision listed the SO-14 Marksman Rifle and Wheelson-HS Scorestreak among free Battle Pass tier rewards; premium tiers included themed operators and weapon blueprints. The season also brought a new Mythic Draw, Street Fighter-themed armories, a returning Battle Pass in the Vault, and other draws.

These categories are different: the free tier rewards were part of Battle Pass progression, while premium tiers and draws were paid or store-based offerings. Their presence added breadth to the season’s content slate, but should not be confused with free rewards for every player.
How ambitious was it compared with another 2025 season?
Season 5 — Primal Reckoning also bundled several kinds of content: Activision announced the Zoo Multiplayer map, the VMP submachine gun, Buy Machines in Battle Royale, a NieR: Automata event, and themed Battle Pass content. Those features made Season 5 a broad update, too.

Season 11’s clearest distinction was DMZ: Recon, a new major mode with a different match format, alongside a crossover that affected limited-time gameplay and multiple seasonal reward tracks. That supports calling it one of the year’s most ambitious updates by breadth and gameplay impact. It does not establish that it was objectively the largest by download size, development effort, or number of players affected.
For rollout context, Activision’s Version 35.0 update notes identify DMZ: Recon as part of the update and state that the mode would become playable when it went live on December 11, 2025. The official Season 11 announcement was published December 3 and gave a launch time of December 11 at 12AM PT.
