Cfx.re opened the Enhanced framework to server owners on July 21, 2026. The build is unfinished, with known bugs, missing features and behaviour that can change before release. Hosting it is not a matter of pointing the existing Legacy server at a new game folder: you need the separate Cfx Server binaries, the Enhanced client/server rules, and a plan for scripts, assets and players that cannot connect from Legacy.
The safest approach is to treat Enhanced as a parallel test or migration environment. Keep a working Legacy server for established players, install the Enhanced server separately, verify every resource, and move your community only after the features and player-access rules you depend on are confirmed.

What FiveM for GTA V Enhanced is today
Enhanced support is a new server framework rather than a minor patch to the classic FiveM stack. The July 21, 2026 early-access opening was specifically for server owners. Cfx.re describes the build as unfinished: bugs and missing features are expected, and features may change before a full release.
That status matters for anyone taking payments, promising uptime or building a public role-play economy. A resource that works on a test server today can require changes after an update, and a guide written for FXServer or GTA V Legacy can give the wrong answer for Enhanced. Keep an explicit rollback path and read current Cfx.re announcements before changing a production installation.

Can ordinary players join?
Published secondary guides disagree about whether general players can already join Enhanced servers or whether broader access follows later. No single, definitive player-availability statement is established here. Before advertising an opening, check the current Cfx.re announcement and the client launcher’s eligibility rules for your region and account. Do not assume that server-owner early access automatically means unrestricted public access.
How Enhanced hosting differs from Legacy
The network and server assumptions change substantially. Enhanced removes peer-to-peer synchronization and uses a client-server model only. The non-big OneSync mode is gone, so OneSync big is the available mode. Pure mode is always enabled and cannot be disabled. These are architectural constraints, not optional tuning settings.

Player IDs also change. Legacy IDs were incremented and never reused; Enhanced assigns IDs differently. Any database, permission system, ban list or external bot that treats a numeric server ID as a permanent player identity must be audited. Use a stable account identifier supplied by the platform or your own database design for long-term records, and test reconnects, restarts and player churn.

What you need before installing an Enhanced server
Server software
- Download the Enhanced-specific Cfx Server package. It is separate from previous FXServer artifacts.
- Use the embedded txAdmin interface for setup and administration; txAdmin remains part of the server distribution.
- Keep the Enhanced files in their own directory and preserve your Legacy installation until migration is complete.
- Plan a versioned backup of configuration, resource files and databases before each early-access update.
Player-side prerequisites
Every player needs a legitimate GTA V PC copy, updated and launched at least once. GTA V Enhanced is a free upgrade for existing owners on Steam, the Epic Games Store or the Rockstar Games Launcher. Players also need an active Rockstar Games/Social Club account and several gigabytes of free disk space. The Enhanced installer downloads the “Gen9” files needed to run servers.
Enhanced has its own installer; it is not the classic FiveM download. GTA V Legacy remains supported in the current FiveM client, and the two installations can exist side by side. Side-by-side installation is useful for testing, but it does not provide cross-play: a Legacy client cannot join an Enhanced server, and an Enhanced client cannot join a Legacy server.
Hardware and operating assumptions
No official minimum or recommended hardware specification was established in the available material. A processor recommendation sometimes repeated by low-quality guides is not an official requirement and should not be used as a purchasing rule. Size a host from measured CPU, memory, storage and network use for your own resources, then recheck Cfx.re announcements as early access develops. Leave headroom for logging, database services, backups and txAdmin rather than targeting a theoretical minimum.

Installing and bringing up a first Enhanced server
The exact installer screens and command-line options can change during early access, so use the current Cfx.re documentation for platform-specific paths. The reliable workflow is:
- Prepare an isolated host. Choose a supported Windows or Linux environment used only for the test instance if possible. Create a dedicated service account, a separate data directory and a backup location. Do not point the new installation at your live Legacy files.
- Obtain the Enhanced Cfx Server package. Download the current Enhanced server build, extract it into the new directory and confirm that the main executable is
cfx-server.exeon Windows. Retain the release version in your change log. - Start txAdmin. Launch the server package and complete the embedded txAdmin onboarding. Set an administrator account, select a data path and record the generated server license or registration details exactly as the current setup page requests.
- Create a minimal configuration. Begin with the default resources and only the settings required to boot. Enable the Enhanced-compatible OneSync configuration supplied by the current template; do not copy Legacy networking assumptions or try to disable pure mode.
- Add resources one at a time. Copy a resource, restart, and inspect the console and txAdmin logs before adding the next. This isolates a failing script and makes it clear whether the problem is a resource, an asset conversion issue or the server build.
- Test connectivity with an eligible client. Use an updated Enhanced installation and the same account conditions required for public players. Record join, reconnect, resource download and disconnect behaviour. A Legacy client is not a valid compatibility test.
- Back up the known-good state. Save the configuration, resource versions, database schema and txAdmin settings. Label the backup with the Cfx Server build so you can roll back after an early-access update.
For installation questions that the current documentation does not answer, Cfx.re directs server owners to its documentation at support.cfx.re and to the Cfx Forum. Use those channels for build-specific errors instead of applying an old FXServer fix blindly.
Scripts, streamed assets and paid resources
Will Lua, JavaScript and C# scripts work?
Secondary compatibility guides report that existing Lua, JavaScript and C# resources are expected to work on Enhanced servers. “Expected” is not a guarantee: verify each resource, because native functions, timing, asset paths and assumptions about player IDs can expose differences. Test core systems first—character selection, inventory, vehicles, jobs, persistence, moderation and voice integrations—before testing cosmetic extras.

Why assets need conversion
Streamed assets must be converted for Enhanced. A resource can have valid script code and still fail because its models, textures, metadata or packaging target the Legacy game. Treat conversion as a build step: keep source assets, produce an Enhanced package, and test the converted files on a clean client with pure mode enabled.
Asset Escrow and commercial scripts
Asset Escrow is reported as not yet available for Enhanced. That affects paid resources whose distribution or protection depends on it. Confirm an author’s Enhanced support, licensing terms and delivery method before buying or renewing a resource for this environment. Do not assume that a Legacy escrow package can be copied across unchanged.
Graphic modifications
Graphic mods are not allowed while Enhanced is in early access. A troubleshooting checklist should therefore remove client-side visual modifications before diagnosing crashes, failed joins or asset mismatches. Keep a clean Enhanced client for support and compatibility testing.

Removed and changed administration features
The server ImGui GUI and Mumble are removed or deprecated in the Enhanced changes. If your operations team relies on the old in-game interface or Mumble-based workflows, replace those dependencies before migration. Use txAdmin and the supported administration and voice resources documented for the current build.
Developer mode is controlled with sv_devMode true. Enable it only in a controlled development instance and follow the current documentation for its effects; do not expose a development configuration as a public production server.
Performance claims: what is known and what is not
One secondary comparison lists Enhanced synchronization as configurable up to 120 Hz, Legacy at about 30 Hz (or 40 Hz with a setting), and as much as 50% less RAM per player. Those figures are not official Cfx.re or Rockstar statistics, and the source and test conditions do not establish a universal result. Use them as hypotheses to measure, not as capacity promises.

No named official Enhanced user-count or adoption statistic has been established either. Avoid marketing claims based on guessed player totals or unverified capacity charts.
Migration strategy: move now or wait?
Run Enhanced now when
- You can operate a separate test instance and tolerate breaking updates.
- Your team can convert streamed assets and audit every script.
- Your players can install the separate Enhanced client and are eligible to use the early-access build.
- You need to validate future compatibility before committing to a larger migration.
Keep Legacy as the primary server when
- Stable public access and mature tooling matter more than experimentation.
- Your paid resources depend on Asset Escrow or have no confirmed Enhanced release.
- Your community cannot accept separate client versions or the lack of cross-play.
- You cannot provide rollback, backups and time to investigate early-access regressions.
A dual-track plan is usually the least risky: keep Legacy online, create an isolated Enhanced staging server, publish clear client requirements, and migrate individual resources in dependency order. Only schedule a public cutover after repeated restarts, database recovery, player reconnects, asset downloads and peak-load tests succeed on the same build you intend to run.

Troubleshooting checklist
The server will not start
- Confirm you downloaded the Enhanced Cfx Server package rather than an older FXServer artifact.
- Check that launch scripts and service definitions call
cfx-server.exe. - Restore the smallest known-good configuration and add resources back one at a time.
Players cannot connect
- Verify the player is using the separate Enhanced installer, an updated legitimate PC copy and an active Rockstar Games/Social Club account.
- Confirm the player is eligible for the current early-access phase; availability for the general player population has changed in reporting.
- Remove graphic modifications and test with a clean client.
- Check that the player is not trying to join from Legacy, because cross-play is unavailable.
A script or asset breaks after migration
- Check the resource author’s Enhanced status and rebuild streamed assets for the Enhanced target.
- Audit code that stores Legacy numeric player IDs as permanent identities.
- Test under always-on pure mode and the Enhanced OneSync big model.
- Review txAdmin and server logs on a single-resource reproduction before changing unrelated settings.
Bottom line for server owners
FiveM Server Hosting for GTA V Enhanced is real, but it is an early-access platform rather than a drop-in Legacy replacement. Use the separate Cfx Server binaries and embedded txAdmin, expect client-server-only networking, OneSync big and mandatory pure mode, and plan for converted assets and per-resource script testing. Players need the Enhanced PC game installation and cannot cross-play with Legacy. Because official hardware guidance and definitive general-player availability are not established, a parallel staging server with a tested rollback remains the prudent path until the framework matures.
