Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallIf Fortnite looks choppy on your phone, first work out whether you mean low frame rate or network delay: they can feel like the same thing, but the checks are different. Epic’s current support guidance recommends checking device eligibility, lowering graphics settings, and closing background apps for performance issues. If you cannot select 60 FPS, check device support, charge level, and power-saving settings; these steps cannot make an unsupported device eligible.
Update: October 8, 2026. The “2022” in the original title refers to a video published on January 31, 2022, not to today’s Fortnite requirements. Current requirements below come from Epic Games’ support pages and may change. They do not establish what was required in 2022 or guarantee a particular frame rate on any device.
First identify what “lag” means
- Choppy animation or sudden slowdowns: This points to a frame-rate or device-performance problem. Use the graphics, background-app, and eligibility checks below.
- Delayed actions, rubber-banding, or inconsistent response while movement looks smooth: This is more consistent with a network-delay symptom. The Epic support pages cited here do not provide a full network-lag diagnosis, so the device-performance steps below may not address it.
Before changing settings, note your phone or tablet model, operating-system version, and whether the problem happens continuously or only in particular matches. Change one setting at a time and retest so you can tell whether that change helped.
Check that your device meets Fortnite’s current requirements
Epic describes Fortnite as a high-fidelity game and warns that a device meeting only the minimum requirements may not offer the highest graphics settings. Its recommended specifications are stronger than the minimums, but Epic does not promise a specific FPS from either set of specifications.

Try Epic’s low-risk performance checks
- Lower in-game graphics settings. Reduce graphics quality and retest. Epic recommends lowering graphics settings to improve performance on devices that meet only minimum specifications.
- Close other running apps. Close background applications before launching Fortnite, then check whether the stutter changes. This is also an Epic-recommended step.
- Retest after each change. If performance does not improve, restore a setting before trying another change; otherwise it becomes harder to identify what affected the result.
Epic’s Android guidance is available at its Android requirements page; the iOS guidance is on its iOS requirements page. These are general recommendations, not results from controlled testing on your device.
If you cannot enable 60 FPS
Performance and the availability of a 60 FPS option are separate questions. Epic says to confirm that your device supports 60 FPS in Fortnite before troubleshooting power settings. A battery or power-mode adjustment will not unlock the option on a device that does not support it.

- Charge the device. Make sure the phone or tablet has sufficient charge. Epic notes that battery-saving mode may activate when the battery is low.
- Check power-saving settings for Fortnite. Disable power-saving features that apply to Fortnite while troubleshooting. On iOS, follow Apple’s instructions for Low Power Mode. On Android, consult the instructions for your phone manufacturer, since settings differ by device.

The matching video listing identifies creator Cederic Schmid and a publication date of January 31, 2022. Its description lists topics including video settings, closing background apps, software updates, storage settings, background app refresh, battery saver mode, and restarting. That description does not verify what the video demonstrates, establish that any step fixes FPS drops, or show results for a particular device.
