PlayTogether Studio announced a networking patch for issues that could occur with more than two players on November 11, 2024, and later said co-op games should be more stable after its February 22, 2025 update. Neither update guarantees a fix for every connection or identifies the cause of a particular player’s lag.
What to try first
- Update the game on every player’s PC. Then start a new session and see whether the lag remains. This is a sensible first check because the developer has published networking and co-op stability updates; it is not a guaranteed cure. Read the developer’s Steam news and patch notes.
- Retest with the same group size. Note whether the problem occurs only when more than two players are in the session. The studio’s November 11, 2024 patch specifically addressed networking issues that could happen in games with more than two players; that does not prove player count is the cause in your session.
- If lag continues, report it to the developer. The studio’s February 22, 2025 announcement directs players to Steam Discussions or its support portal. Include the number of players and when the lag occurs so the report describes the issue clearly. Find the support links in the developer’s announcement.
What the game’s updates say about multiplayer lag
November 11, 2024: networking fix for larger groups
In a Steam Community news post signed by Clem, a PlayTogether Studio developer representative, the studio said: “We just released a small patch that will fix the networking issues that could happen in a game with more than 2 players.” The note identifies a specific class of issue, not a diagnosis for every multiplayer slowdown.

February 22, 2025: co-op stability improvements
In its free HD 4K remaster announcement, the studio said: “Co-op games should now be more stable”. The wording is the developer’s expectation, not a promise that all lag has been eliminated. If your session still lags after updating, the available notes do not establish whether the cause is the game build, a player’s connection, routing, or something else.
What Steam lists for online play
Steam describes the game as supporting online co-op and cross-platform multiplayer, with sessions for up to six players. Its Windows system requirements call for a broadband internet connection but give no download or upload speed, ping, jitter, or packet-loss target. What to include in a lag report
The developer provides Steam Discussions and its support portal as contact routes, but its announcements do not publish a player-specific network diagnostic procedure. When you report the issue, describe what you observed rather than guessing at the cause:
- How many players were in the session.
- When the lag occurred and whether it happened throughout the session or only at particular times.
- Whether all players experienced it or only one player did.
- That each player had updated the game before retesting.
These details can make the report easier to understand; they are practical reporting suggestions, not a checklist prescribed by the studio.

Are there known ping or bandwidth fixes?
The official listing and update notes do not publish a recommended ping, bandwidth threshold, server-uptime figure, or a tested fix involving routers, Ethernet, VPNs, DNS, or port forwarding. Without information about the affected session, those remedies cannot be presented as confirmed fixes for this game. If updating and retesting do not help, use the developer’s support routes rather than assuming the cause.
