Flame, Grant Me Strength is a short-duration body buff in ELDEN RING that increases qualifying physical and fire attack power. It requires 15 Faith, costs 28 FP, uses one memory slot, lasts 30 seconds, and is found near Fort Gael in Caelid. It is especially effective for Strength/Faith, Flame Art, fire-affinity, and fire-incantation builds, and it can be used alongside the offensive aura buff Golden Vow.

What does Flame, Grant Me Strength do?

The incantation applies a temporary offensive buff that improves physical and fire attack power. In ordinary play, the documented increase is 20%, with the effect reduced to 15% in PvP. It also improves stamina recovery by 5 points per second while active.

The important limitation is that the spell does not increase every form of damage produced by an attack with a fire-related name. It applies to qualifying damage types. A weapon skill or spell that deals multiple damage types may receive the bonus only on its physical or fire component, while other components follow their own damage calculations.

Examples of damage that can benefit

  • Physical weapon attacks and skills that deal qualifying physical damage.
  • Fire-affinity and Flame Art weapon damage.
  • Fire incantations and other attacks with a qualifying fire-damage component.
  • The fire portion of Flaming Strike; its reference entry specifically describes the buff as increasing that skill’s fire portion.
  • Fire Pots, whose fire attack power is also identified as benefiting from the buff.

Do not read “fire attack power” as “all damage from anything associated with fire.” Check the actual damage types of a skill, spell, projectile, or weapon attack before assuming the entire hit is amplified.

Requirements and preparation

You need 15 Faith, 28 FP, and one available memory slot. Because this is an incantation, you also need to equip a Sacred Seal in order to cast it. The low Faith requirement makes it accessible to many hybrid characters without turning the spell into a dedicated high-Faith build commitment.

Its 30-second duration makes it a better pre-fight buff than a general exploration buff. Cast it shortly before entering a boss arena, invading a stronghold, starting a difficult encounter, or committing to a short burst-damage sequence. Recasting during combat costs time and FP, and the benefit may expire before a long encounter is over.

Where to find Flame, Grant Me Strength

In the original ELDEN RING, the incantation is picked up from a corpse behind Fort Gael in Caelid, near the Flame Chariots. The item is on the eastern or southern side of the fort area depending on how the route is described by the map or guide.

  1. Travel to Fort Gael in Caelid.
  2. Move around the outside of the fort toward the area behind it, rather than treating the main interior as the only route.
  3. Look for the corpse near the two Flame Chariots.
  4. Loot the corpse to obtain Flame, Grant Me Strength.

The surrounding area is dangerous, but you do not have to clear Fort Gael to collect the incantation. A commonly recommended approach is to mount Torrent, ride directly to the corpse, loot it, and retreat. That is a route-saving tactic reported by walkthrough coverage, not a claim of independent testing; the Flame Chariots and nearby enemies can still punish a poorly timed approach. The location is also covered by this Fort Gael acquisition guide.

How to stack it with other buffs

Flame, Grant Me Strength is a body buff. Buff categories matter in ELDEN RING: two effects in the same category may overwrite or conflict, while effects from compatible categories can remain active together.

The most important practical pairing is Golden Vow. Golden Vow is an offensive aura buff, so it can coexist with Flame, Grant Me Strength. A typical sequence for a physical/fire damage build is:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Cast Golden Vow before the fight.
  2. Cast Flame, Grant Me Strength immediately before engaging.
  3. Use the weapon, skill, spell, or consumable whose damage actually benefits from the physical or fire portion of the buff.

Do not assume that every other self-enhancement will stack simply because it is useful or fire-themed. If another effect is also a body buff, it may replace Flame, Grant Me Strength rather than add to it. The maintained mechanics entry identifies the relevant buff classification and Golden Vow interaction.

Which builds should use it?

Strength/Faith hybrids

Strength/Faith characters are a natural fit because they often combine heavy physical weapons with Flame Art, fire-affinity, or fire-based incantations. Even when the weapon is primarily physical, the spell can still be useful; it is not restricted to weapons that visibly deal fire damage.

Flame Art and fire-affinity weapons

Characters using fire-oriented weapon affinities can take advantage of both the physical and fire portions of their attacks, subject to the specific weapon or skill’s damage breakdown. This is one of the clearest use cases for the incantation.

Fire-incantation builds

Fire-focused casters can use it as a short offensive setup before launching their main spell sequence. The effect still depends on the spell’s actual damage types, so it should not be treated as a universal multiplier for every incantation with “flame” in its name.

Conventional physical weapon builds

A pure or mostly physical melee character can still benefit if the 15 Faith requirement fits the build. The spell’s name and Fire Monk association do not make it fire-only; its documented effect includes qualifying physical attack power as well.

When is the buff worth using?

It is most valuable when you can convert nearly all of the 30-second window into meaningful attacks. Boss openings, short dungeon fights, elite enemies, and planned burst phases are better situations than wandering through a large region where the timer may expire before combat begins.

  • Use it: before a boss attempt, before a known elite enemy, before a short fire/physical burst rotation, or when you can safely prepare outside an arena.
  • Use it cautiously: in PvP, where the documented increase is 15% rather than 20% and the cast itself creates an opportunity for an opponent to punish you.
  • Skip it: when the attack you plan to use deals neither qualifying physical nor fire damage, or when the encounter is too long and fragmented to justify repeated casts.

The stamina-recovery bonus can also make sustained melee play more comfortable, but the main reason to equip the spell is its offensive increase. The exact value of the buff depends on how much of your attack’s damage belongs to the affected types.

Flame, Grant Me Strength in ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN

ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN contains a similarly named entry, but it should not be confused with the original game’s Fort Gael pickup. Nightreign uses different acquisition and progression systems: its version is described as an offensive self-buff and can be obtained through the game’s expedition/Sacred Seal system.

Therefore:

  • Original ELDEN RING: find the incantation on a corpse behind Fort Gael in Caelid, near the Flame Chariots.
  • ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN: consult the Nightreign-specific Sacred Seal and expedition information rather than traveling to Fort Gael.

The two games should be treated separately when checking requirements, effect descriptions, and acquisition instructions. A Nightreign-specific reference covers that version’s acquisition context.

A printed reference for spell and build planning

If you want a physical reference for combat systems, spells, armaments, equipment, statistics, and build planning, Elden Ring Books of Knowledge Volume II is the most directly relevant companion. Future Press describes Volume II as the combat- and equipment-focused volume, making it a better match for this spell-mechanics question than the world-and-lore emphasis of Volume I. It is optional and is not required to obtain or use Flame, Grant Me Strength.

Volume I is more relevant to maps, progression, dungeons, NPC quests, and the wider Lands Between, while Volume III covers the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. Official ELDEN RING art books are a separate collector-focused option for readers interested in characters, enemies, weapons, items, and visual design—not a substitute for a gameplay reference.

Common mistakes

  • Looking in the wrong game: Fort Gael is the original ELDEN RING location, not the Nightreign acquisition method.
  • Expecting a universal fire multiplier: only qualifying physical and fire damage components benefit.
  • Replacing Golden Vow: Golden Vow belongs to a compatible aura category and can be used with this body buff.
  • Using it too early: the documented duration is only 30 seconds, so cast close to the encounter.
  • Assuming fire-themed names explain damage: inspect the actual skill or spell’s damage components, as with Flaming Strike.
  • Overstating exact values: the listed percentages and stamina recovery are current reference values and should be rechecked after major balance updates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Flame, Grant Me Strength worth using on a physical build?

Yes, if the build can meet the 15 Faith requirement and the attacks deal qualifying physical damage. The incantation is not limited to fire weapons, although it is most attractive when both physical and fire damage are part of the build.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can Flame, Grant Me Strength stack with Golden Vow?

Yes. Flame, Grant Me Strength is a body buff, while Golden Vow is an offensive aura buff, so the two are documented as compatible. Another body-buff effect may conflict with or replace Flame, Grant Me Strength.

Does it boost all damage from Flaming Strike?

No. The documented interaction increases Flaming Strike’s fire portion. Other damage components should be evaluated according to their own damage types.

How long does Flame, Grant Me Strength last?

The current reference value for the original ELDEN RING is 30 seconds.

Where is Flame, Grant Me Strength in Elden Ring?

In the original game, loot it from a corpse behind Fort Gael in Caelid, near two Flame Chariots. You can generally ride to the pickup on Torrent without clearing the entire fort.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Flame, Grant Me Strength is a 15-Faith, one-slot, 28-FP body buff that lasts 30 seconds and increases qualifying physical and fire damage. Find it behind Fort Gael in Caelid, cast it immediately before a fight, and pair it with Golden Vow when your build’s damage actually uses the affected types. Do not use the Fort Gael instructions for the similarly named Nightreign version.
