The “free game of the week” wording referred to a limited-time offer, not an ongoing entitlement.
What was the free Epic Games Store game?
The game was Floppy Knights, a tactical game from Rose City Games that combines turn-based battles with card-game strategy. Players build decks, choose their Knights and plan moves on a battlefield. Its story follows Phoebe, an inventor, and Carlton, her robot-arm companion; the Knights are summoned from floppy disks. Rose City Games’ game page describes the game and its content.
When did the giveaway end?
Gizchina reported the offer on July 12, 2024, and Rose City Games announced on July 15 that Floppy Knights was Epic’s free game of the week and would be available until July 18, 2024. That deadline has passed. The developer’s announcement is available at Rose City Games; the original news report is at Gizchina.
Does Epic still give away free games?
Yes. Epic operates a recurring free-games program, separate from the expired Floppy Knights offer. Epic’s Free Games page describes the program and shows the current lineup; check the storefront for what is available now. The continuing program does not reopen an earlier game-specific promotion.
