The lists below reflect the accessible Football Manager 26 guides published after the January/midseason 2026 database update, including FourFourTwo’s list dated March 16, 2026 and Position Is Everything’s May 17, 2026 guide. They are recommendations, not an official Sports Interactive ranking, and player potential, availability and prices can vary between saves.
What counts as a wonderkid in FM26?
In these guides, a wonderkid is generally a player aged 20 or under with the potential to become a top-level footballer. That potential is not necessarily identical in every save: some players have fixed high potential, while others have variable potential. A name on this list is therefore a strong scouting lead, not a guarantee that the player will develop into a world-class star.

FourFourTwo’s ratings also need context. Its expected star level changes depending on the club you manage, with a weaker team making the same player appear more highly rated relative to the squad. In that guide, gold stars represent expected ability and silver stars represent the best-case potential level. They should not be treated as universal ability scores.

Goalkeepers
- Guillaume Restes
- Bart Verbruggen
- Lucas Chevalier
These are the leading goalkeeper names highlighted by the current position-by-position guide. Goalkeepers usually need patience: even a highly rated young option may require time, matches and a suitable development environment before becoming a reliable first-choice player.
#1 Best Overall
Right-backs
- Iván Fresneda
- Héctor Fort
- Rico Lewis
Right-back prospects can be especially valuable because modern systems often ask them to defend, overlap or move into midfield. Compare each player’s attributes and role suitability with your tactic rather than choosing on potential alone.
Left-backs
- Jorrel Hato
- Valentín Barco
- Patrick Dorgu
Hato, Barco and Dorgu are among the leading young left-sided defenders identified in the FM26 guides. Their usefulness will depend on whether your system needs a conventional full-back, an aggressive wing-back or a player who can contribute in possession.

Centre-backs
- Pau Cubarsí
- Leny Yoro
- Ousmane Diomande
Cubarsí, Yoro and Diomande are the headline centre-back prospects. Before committing a large fee, check how their current attributes fit your defensive line: a high ceiling does not automatically solve weaknesses such as lack of pace, limited composure or poor suitability for a high line.
Defensive midfielders
- Archie Gray
- Adam Wharton
- Arthur Vermeeren
These players are the principal defensive-midfield recommendations in the available guides. They can be particularly useful for teams that need a long-term holder, organiser or deep distributor, but the right choice depends on whether your midfield requires defensive coverage, ball progression or both.

- RICH MULTIPLAYER EXPERIENCE
Central midfielders
- João Neves
- Kobbie Mainoo
- Warren Zaïre-Emery
João Neves, Kobbie Mainoo and Warren Zaïre-Emery stand out among the central-midfield names. They are expensive targets in many saves, so assess your squad’s immediate needs as carefully as their long-term potential.
Attacking midfielders
- Arda Güler
- Claudio Echeverri
- Franco Mastantuono
These attacking midfielders offer options between the lines and around the edge of the final third. Their value is highest when you have a clear role for them and enough playing time to support development.

Wingers
- Lamine Yamal
- Estêvão
- Roony Bardghji
- Assane Diao
The winger shortlist includes some of the most recognisable elite prospects in FM26. However, signing several wide attackers at once can leave them competing for the same limited minutes, which may slow development.
Strikers
- Endrick
- Vitor Roque
- Evan Ferguson
- Benjamin Šeško
Endrick, Vitor Roque, Evan Ferguson and Benjamin Šeško are the leading striker recommendations. A young forward benefits from regular competitive football, so plan whether the player will start, rotate, go on loan or learn behind an established striker.

Other high-value FM26 wonderkid targets
The March 2026 guide also highlights several players who do not fit neatly into a single position or deserve separate attention:
- Rodrigo Mora: usable at attacking midfield or on the left wing, with a reported £60 million release clause in FourFourTwo’s database assessment.
- Ayyoub Bouaddi: highlighted as a defensive-midfield option who could potentially be retrained at right-back.
- Ethan Nwaneri: listed in that database context as beginning the 2025/26 season on loan at Marseille from Arsenal.
- Abdellah Ouazane: identified as an Ajax prospect available for under £30 million in FourFourTwo’s assessment.
- Nico Paz: described as a 20-year-old attacking playmaker with 19 dribbling, 16 passing and 17 vision in the article’s FM26 assessment.
- Konstantinos Karetsas: a right-sided or attacking-midfield option listed at approximately £35 million.
- Gilberto Mora: described as costing roughly one-quarter of Rodrigo Mora’s reported fee, although he may not want to move in the first window because of his age.
Those fees and situations are database-specific estimates, not guaranteed prices. They can change according to the save, start date, transfers, reputation and club finances. See FourFourTwo’s March 2026 FM26 wonderkid list for the source context.
How to choose the right wonderkid for your save
- Start with a position and role. Decide whether you need a ball-playing centre-back, holding midfielder, inside forward or another specific role before searching for the highest-potential name.
- Check current ability as well as potential. A player with a spectacular ceiling may still be unable to help your first team immediately.
- Plan the minutes first. Do not sign multiple prospects for one position unless you have a realistic rotation, loan or reserve-team plan. Several players competing for the same minutes creates a development bottleneck.
- Confirm availability in your save. A player may not appear if the relevant nation, league or player pool was not loaded when the save was created.
- Recheck the deal. Asking prices, release clauses, contracts, loan status and willingness to move are not universal across saves.
- Use staff reports and scouting. Published lists identify promising candidates, but your own scouts and coaches can reveal role fit, personality, injuries, adaptation risks and whether the player is affordable.
Why a listed wonderkid may be missing
Not every player in a published FM26 wonderkid guide will be available in every save. The selected database and loaded player pool affect who is generated or searchable. The player’s club, price, availability and preferred role can also change with the save’s start date and circumstances. If a name does not appear, check whether its country, league or player pool was included when you created the game rather than assuming the list is incorrect.

There is no single best signing for every club. A Champions League contender can target an expensive elite prospect such as Yamal, Endrick or João Neves, while a smaller club may gain more from a cheaper player who can play immediately. The strongest approach is to shortlist by position, verify the player in your own database, and sign only as many prospects as your squad can actually develop.
