FNAF: Fazcraft Reimagined is a horror-focused Minecraft modpack with separate client and server files. Choose one supported Minecraft and loader combination, install the matching client release, and use the server pack for that exact line when hosting. The currently listed release families are Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge and Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge; a 1.20.1 Forge client must not connect to a 1.21.1 NeoForge server.

FNAF: Fazcraft Reimagined is a Minecraft modpack built around Five Nights at Freddy’s horror themes. Its official CurseForge project categories are Horror, Adventure and RPG, Exploration, Multiplayer, and Hardcore. The project description says it is intended to make the Five Nights at Freddy’s feeling unsettling inside Minecraft.
The pack combines horror exploration with additional structures, dimensions, gear progression, technology systems, and magic systems. That combination means it is more than a collection of decorative FNAF assets: a normal playthrough can involve exploration, progression, combat, equipment management, and multiplayer survival alongside the horror elements.

The project page reported 26,615 total downloads and an update dated August 12, 2026. Downloads and update dates change, so use the current file list when choosing the release you will install.
Supported Minecraft versions and loaders
Fazcraft Reimagined is not one universal download. It has separate release lines, and the Minecraft version, mod loader, client file, and server pack must agree.

The loader distinction is important. Forge and NeoForge are different distributions, even when a modpack’s name is identical. A Forge installation should not be pointed at a NeoForge server, and changing only the loader while leaving the Minecraft version unchanged does not make releases interchangeable.
The project also lists a 1.20.1 client release 1.4.0 as a Forge archive uploaded May 3, 2026. Its changelog mentions updates to Sophisticated Backpacks and Sophisticated Core. Treat that as a release-specific change, not a promise that every later or earlier file contains the same versions.
Choose a release before installing
Decide the Minecraft line first, then select the exact pack version. If friends will join, make this decision as a group; everyone needs the same combination.
Use 1.20.1 Forge when
- Your group has selected the 1.20.1 release line and can use Forge on every client.
- You intend to use the listed 1.20.1 server pack, such as Server Pack 4.2.0.
- You are continuing a world that was created on the 1.20.1 Forge line and have checked the release changelog before changing versions.
Use 1.21.1 NeoForge when
- Your group has selected the 1.21.1 release line and can use NeoForge on every client.
- The project page provides a matching 1.21.1 server-pack release for the version you selected.
- You are starting a new world or have confirmed that an existing world and its mods are compatible with the 1.21.1 line.
Record the exact file
Write down the Minecraft version, loader, modpack version, and server-pack version before anyone launches. A simple record such as “Minecraft 1.20.1 / Forge / Fazcraft 4.2.0 server pack” prevents a common multiplayer failure: one player silently updating while the server remains on an older file.

Install the client
You can install through a launcher that supports the selected distribution or use the client archive supplied on CurseForge. Launcher labels and memory controls vary, so the exact buttons may differ, but the order of operations is the same.
- Open the current project file list. Filter or sort by the Minecraft version you selected. Confirm both the loader and whether the download is marked as a client file rather than a server pack.
- Install the matching loader profile. A 1.20.1 installation must use Forge; a 1.21.1 installation must use NeoForge. Do not rely on a similarly named profile created for another version.
- Import or download the client archive. If your launcher supports direct modpack import, use the client file. If it requires a manual archive, follow that launcher’s import workflow instead of extracting the pack into an unrelated instance.
- Start the instance once. Let the loader resolve its dependencies and create the initial configuration. The first launch can take longer than later starts because files and configuration folders are being generated.
- Check the title-screen or instance details. Confirm that the displayed Minecraft version and loader match the server you plan to use. If the launcher reports missing dependencies or a loader mismatch, stop here and correct the instance rather than trying to join.
- Keep the instance version fixed. Disable automatic updating for this instance if your launcher offers that option, or record the selected file so you can restore it if the launcher updates later.
Launcher-specific memory settings are interface-dependent. Use the launcher’s documented controls and leave enough memory for the operating system and any other applications; the project listing does not prescribe one universal value.
Prepare a dedicated server
For a private world with several players, a dedicated server keeps the world running independently of a player’s client. The server must use the server-pack archive for the same Minecraft version, loader family, and modpack release as the clients.
1. Download the correct server pack
On the project’s file list, select the server-pack release that matches the client record. For the 1.20.1 Forge line, the project lists Server Pack 4.2.0 at 960.3 MB, uploaded August 12, 2026. The 1.21.1 NeoForge line has its own server-pack releases; do not substitute a 1.20.1 archive simply because it is easier to find.

2. Create a clean server directory
Make a new folder dedicated to this instance. Keeping the server files separate from the client installation makes backups, upgrades, and troubleshooting easier. Extract the server-pack contents into that directory, preserving the folder structure supplied by the archive.
3. Install the matching server loader
Install the Forge or NeoForge server files required by the selected release. Follow the loader’s own installation instructions for the Minecraft version in the pack. The server loader and the client loader must belong to the same release family.

4. Launch once to generate files
Run the server from its directory using the launch method supplied by the loader and pack. The first run normally creates configuration files and world folders, then stops or pauses for setup. Do not move generated files while this process is running.
5. Accept the Minecraft EULA
Read the EULA file generated in the server directory. If you agree to it, change the EULA setting as directed by the file, save it, and run the server again. A server that has not recorded acceptance will not finish starting.

Stop the server cleanly after the first successful generation. Review the generated configuration and confirm that the world directory, server port, and other settings are the ones you intend to use. Make a backup of the fresh configuration before extensive edits.
7. Start and test locally
Restart the server and wait until the console reports that it is ready for connections. Test from the host computer first. A local test separates mod or configuration errors from router, firewall, and address problems.
8. Give players the reachable address
Players on the same local network may be able to connect using the host’s local address. Players outside that network need a reachable public address and an appropriately configured port-forwarding and firewall rule. Network menus differ by operating system and router, so use the device manufacturer’s current instructions for those steps.
9. Shut down safely
Use the server console’s stop command rather than closing the window. A clean shutdown reduces the risk of a damaged world or incomplete configuration write. Back up the world folder and configuration after stopping.

Make every client match the server
Every player should install the same Minecraft version, loader, and modpack release that the server uses. “Almost the same” is not enough when a file changes a mod list or configuration.
- Minecraft version: 1.20.1 clients belong on a 1.20.1 server; 1.21.1 clients belong on a 1.21.1 server.
- Loader: Forge clients require the Forge server line; NeoForge clients require the NeoForge server line.
- Pack release: Match the exact modpack version, not merely the project name.
- Server files: Use the project’s server pack rather than copying a client instance and hoping it behaves as a dedicated server.
- World changes: Check the changelog and make a backup before moving an existing world to another release.
Common connection and startup problems
“Incompatible version” or handshake errors
First compare the Minecraft version and loader shown by the client and server. Then compare the exact pack release. Correct the outlier by reinstalling the appropriate client archive or replacing the server files only after making a full world backup.
The server stops immediately
Check the console for the first error rather than the final shutdown line. Confirm that the server loader belongs to the selected Minecraft version, that the server-pack contents were extracted completely, and that the EULA setting was accepted. Recreate the instance in a clean directory if files from another release were mixed into it.
A player can join locally but friends cannot
This usually indicates a network reachability issue rather than a mod mismatch. Verify that the server is listening on the intended port, the host firewall permits it, and the router forwards it to the correct machine. Test the local connection again after each network change.
Missing mods or dependency errors
Do not download random replacement jars from unrelated pages. Reinstall the client or server pack from the project’s matching release and compare the resulting file set. A dependency error after updating one side usually means the two sides are no longer on the same release.
Crashes after changing versions
Restore the previous backup and return to the release that created the world. Then read the selected version’s changelog before attempting another migration. A world opened by a newer or different release may not be safely reversible without a backup.

Choosing between self-hosting and managed hosting
Self-hosting gives you control over the files, world backups, configuration, and schedule, but you must handle networking, updates, restarts, and troubleshooting. It is practical when the host has a reliable machine and the group is comfortable maintaining a dedicated server.
A managed Minecraft service can provide a control panel and an easier installation path. The official Fazcraft project page says, “Need a server? BisectHosting is the BEST option to play this modpack.” That is the project page’s recommendation, not an independent performance test; confirm the current supported pack version, location options, resource limits, pricing, and cancellation terms before ordering.
VeryGames also lists FNAF – Fazcraft Reimagined as installable on its Minecraft server service. Treat that listing as evidence of an offered installation option, not a guarantee of a particular version, uptime, latency, or capacity. Verify those details with the provider before moving an existing world.
Questions to ask a host
- Does the panel install the exact Minecraft version and loader you selected?
- Can you upload the official server-pack archive or replace it with a specific release?
- Are automated backups available, and can you download them?
- What happens when the pack receives an update?
- Where are the servers located relative to your players?
- Can you access logs and restart the instance without opening a support ticket?
Updating or migrating a world
Do not update the live server first. Use a staged process so a failed migration does not destroy the only copy of the world.
- Stop the current server cleanly.
- Copy the complete world directory, configuration files, and the exact version record to a separate backup location.
- Read the target release changelog and confirm that a server pack exists for the target Minecraft and loader combination.
- Install the new release in a separate directory instead of overwriting the working server.
- Test the copied world on the new server while the original remains untouched.
- Have each player install the same target client release before connecting.
- Keep the old server and backup until the group has played successfully on the migrated copy.
A change from 1.20.1 Forge to 1.21.1 NeoForge is a release-line migration, not a routine patch. Treat it as a new server build and verify world compatibility before committing to it.
Practical launch checklist
- Selected Minecraft version: 1.20.1 or 1.21.1.
- Selected loader: Forge for 1.20.1 or NeoForge for 1.21.1.
- Exact client release recorded for every player.
- Matching server-pack archive downloaded.
- Server files installed in a clean directory.
- EULA accepted and the server has completed one generation run.
- Local connection tested before inviting outside players.
- Firewall and router rules checked if outside access is required.
- World and configuration backups made before updates.
- All players given the same version and loader instructions.
The Bottom Line
Install Fazcraft Reimagined as one matched set: Minecraft version, Forge or NeoForge loader, exact client release, and corresponding server pack. For 1.20.1, use the Forge line and its matching server pack; for 1.21.1, use NeoForge and the corresponding files.
