Football Manager 26’s In-Game Editor is paid downloadable content for changing parts of a career while its save is loaded and active. The official Steam and Microsoft Store listings each showed $8.99 when checked on October 4, 2026; the add-on requires the base game, which is sold separately. Its listed edits include player attributes and ability ratings, transfers, club finances, and reputation. The official listings do not give a post-purchase activation menu path, so this guide distinguishes confirmed details from steps that should not be guessed.

What the FM26 In-Game Editor does

The In-Game Editor is a paid add-on for making changes within an existing Football Manager 26 career. The Steam and Microsoft Store product descriptions say it can only be used when a save game is loaded and active.

The official listings name these capabilities:

  • Edit player attributes, Current Ability, and Potential Ability.
  • Arrange incoming and outgoing transfers.
  • Change club finances and reputation.
  • Adjust other game-world settings; the listings do not provide a complete field-by-field list.

These are examples of listed functions, not evidence that every player, club, or game property can be edited without restriction. See the Steam In-Game Editor listing and Microsoft Store listing for their product descriptions.

How much does it cost, and where can you buy it?

On October 4, 2026, the Steam and Microsoft Store listings each displayed a price of $8.99. Treat that as a storefront observation, not a guaranteed price: it may change and may differ by region. Check the store you use for the current price and availability.

Both listings identify the editor as an add-on, not the full game. Steam explicitly requires Football Manager 26 on Steam; Microsoft says a game is required and sold separately. Buying the editor does not include the base game.

Check the edition and platform first

The official Football Manager 26 page lists PC availability through Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, and PC Game Pass, and also identifies Console, Touch, and Mobile editions. The Microsoft Store editor listing specifies “Play with PC.” The official pages cited here do not establish that the In-Game Editor works with every FM26 edition or storefront.

Before purchasing, confirm that you are looking at the editor listing for your platform and that you own the required FM26 version on the relevant store. In particular, do not assume that a PC add-on listing applies to Console, Touch, or Mobile.

How to enable the In-Game Editor after buying

The official product listings establish two things: the add-on must be purchased for the relevant store and platform, and it can be used only with a save loaded and active. They do not document a precise post-purchase menu path, toggle, button, icon, or restart requirement. Because those activation details are not established by the cited official pages, avoid following click-by-click instructions that assume a particular interface.

If the editor does not appear, first verify that the purchase was made on the store and platform where you play, and that the FM26 base game is installed and running. Then consult current official support for that specific version rather than using Pre-Game Editor installation directions as a workaround.

In-Game Editor vs. Pre-Game Editor

They are separate tools for different stages of a career:

What you want to do Tool What official sources establish
Change player or club details within an existing career Paid In-Game Editor Store listings describe edits such as attributes, transfers, finances, and reputation, and require a loaded, active save. Steam; Microsoft Store.
Modify the FM database before beginning a career Pre-Game Editor SEGA Support’s Pre-Game Editor guide describes database editing and provides installation instructions.

SEGA Support’s guide is specifically about the Pre-Game Editor, not the paid In-Game Editor. Its installation instructions—such as enabling Tools in Steam’s Library—must not be treated as instructions for enabling the DLC. The two official descriptions distinguish database preparation from changes made during an active save; they are not a full comparison of every feature.

Protect your career save

Before making consequential changes, keep a separate backup of your save. SEGA Support’s Pre-Game Editor article recommends regular backups and describes default save locations; its backup advice is useful, but its editor installation steps apply only to the Pre-Game Editor.
