You can try to steal the P-996 LAZER fighter jet, a Rhino tank, or other military vehicles from Fort Zancudo in GTA V story mode and GTA Online. The LAZER is the clearest target, but its location is not guaranteed, and taking any vehicle can bring a military response. In GTA Online, a Fort Zancudo hangar makes entering and scouting safer; it does not make theft consequence-free. Plan your exit before you cross the perimeter.
What can you steal from Fort Zancudo?
The P-996 LAZER fighter jet is the best-known target. Guides report that it can appear on runways, taxiways, or in open hangars, but those are possible locations rather than guaranteed spawns. [GTA Intel] and [GTA BOOM] identify it as a Fort Zancudo target.
Other vehicles associated with the base include the Besra military aircraft, the Titan transport aircraft, and assorted military ground vehicles. A Rhino tank is a much less dependable prize: GTA BOOM says one is not simply parked and waiting to be taken, and describes it as part of the wanted-level response. GTA Intel likewise cautions that armored support in story mode is not a reliably parked target. Treat these vehicles as possibilities, not a checklist of guaranteed spawns.
Can you keep a stolen vehicle in GTA Online?
No permanent ownership is established by the available guides. GTA BOOM says a stolen military vehicle is available only for the current session. That makes it useful for temporary use or an escape, but you should not expect to store it as a lasting personal vehicle.

How a Fort Zancudo hangar changes the risk
In GTA Online, owning a Fort Zancudo hangar grants low-level access to the area without the hostile military response that unauthorized entry can trigger, according to Rockstar’s GTA Online Starter Tips. That is an access advantage, not permission to take equipment: GTA BOOM reports that firing a weapon or stealing a vehicle can still trigger a wanted level and military hostility.
Rockstar describes hangars as aircraft storage and a gateway to Air Freight Cargo in its GTA Online properties guide. If your aim is a heist, think of the hangar as a safer way to enter and scout—not a guarantee of a safe theft.

Story mode and GTA Online: what differs
Fort Zancudo appears in both modes, but the available guidance does not establish a single, universal wanted-level or vehicle-spawn rule for every mode, mission, and update. The practical comparison is:

GTA Intel and the Grand Theft Wiki report different wanted-level details for ground intrusions and airspace violations, including escalation after warnings. Because those are secondary accounts and can be mode-sensitive, do not rely on a specific star count as a universal rule. Assume that unauthorized entry or theft may alert the military.

How to approach the base and reach a target
Choose your target and escape route before entering. The guides describe several approaches, but none is risk-free and none guarantees that a vehicle will be waiting in the expected place.
- Fast ground approach: GTA BOOM describes a western approach as useful for reaching jets. A quick vehicle approach may reduce time spent exposed, but it does not prevent detection.
- Checkpoint approach: GTA Intel describes using a motorcycle at a checkpoint. Treat it as a tactic, not a reliable way to bypass security.
- Parachute approach: A parachute can put you near an aircraft or other target, but the landing needs to be accurate and quick. A poor landing can leave you exposed on foot.
Once inside, head for the closest viable target rather than searching the whole base under pressure. If the aircraft you expected is absent, do not assume it has spawned elsewhere; decide whether to leave or change targets.

How to get away after stealing a vehicle
If you take an aircraft
Get airborne promptly, then put distance between yourself and the base. GTA Intel recommends flying low and weaving to disrupt missile pursuit, while both gameplay guides describe gaining distance and breaking line of sight as useful tactics. These maneuvers may help, but they do not guarantee a clean escape or clear a wanted level automatically.
If you take a ground vehicle
The initial approach and the military response can make a ground escape difficult. If you can reach a tunnel, Rockstar’s general GTA Online advice suggests tunnels as a way to evade pursuers. That is general guidance, not a Fort Zancudo-specific guarantee, and a tunnel may not be practical for the vehicle you took.

Removing a wanted level in GTA Online
Rockstar’s starter tips say you can call Lester to remove a wanted level for a fee. Whether this is available can depend on mode and mission context, so treat it as an option to check—not a plan that will always be available during a heist.
