Before launch, reports pointed to Japanese-inspired locations, Oni masks, and crossover characters. Those were pre-release expectations, not a complete or definitive account of the chapter. Chapter 6 then changed by season: Season 2’s LAWLESS update brought a separate set of locations, heist-focused gameplay, and Battle Pass rewards. Here is what was reported, what Epic officially announced, and which details applied to which season.
What was leaked or rumored before Chapter 6 launched?
In a November 27, 2024 preview, GameSpot reported that leakers expected Chapter 6 to feature Japanese-inspired geography and architecture, Oni masks with special powers, and crossover skins. The article described these as leaks or expectations, so they are best understood as a snapshot of pre-launch speculation rather than confirmation that every prediction would appear in the game. GameSpot’s November 27 preview also discussed Godzilla and Baymax as expected collaborations based on leaked key art and reporting; those names should likewise be attributed to the pre-launch report, not treated as proof of the full Chapter 6 lineup.
Epic’s official announcement established the actual Season 1 launch on December 1, 2024, under the 鬼 HUNTERS! theme. The overlap between that official theme and some pre-launch reporting does not make every leak accurate. Epic’s Season 1 announcement is the better reference for what the developer confirmed.
What did the Chapter 6 map and gameplay include?
Chapter 6 content arrived across multiple seasons, so there is no single set of map and gameplay details that describes the entire chapter. A concrete later example is Season 2, LAWLESS. Epic’s announcement and an Epic-authored overview on PlayStation Blog document the locations and features below; they are Season 2 additions, not a list of everything present at the December 2024 launch.

Season 2 locations and heist gameplay
LAWLESS introduced Crime City, Outlaw Oasis, Shiny Shafts, and Lonewolf Lair. Its gameplay centered on heists and included armored transports, an armored train and vault, Black Markets, and a refreshed set of Boons. Epic’s LAWLESS announcement and the PlayStation Blog overview authored by Epic provide the season-specific details.
Season 2 Boons and items
Epic described the Vulture Boon as revealing where enemies are eliminated for a short time. The Adrenaline Rush Boon granted the Slap effect when players mantled, hurdled, or wall jumped. The season also documented the Port-A-Cover, Pulse Scanner, Med-Mist Grenade, Gold Splash, and new weapon items. These examples belong to LAWLESS; they should not be projected backward onto Season 1 or treated as permanent features of the chapter.
Which skins were in the Chapter 6 Battle Pass?
The named lineup below is the LAWLESS Season 2 Battle Pass, not a chapter-wide roster or Season 1 pass. Epic listed Cassidy Quinn, Joss, Fletcher Kane, Valentina, Big Dill, Keisha Cross, and Sub-Zero (MK3) among its rewards. Outlaw Midas was to be unlocked through quests later in the season.

Use three distinctions to assess a claim: its confirmation status, when it circulated, and the scope it describes. A pre-launch leak is different from an official season announcement, and a feature added in one season does not automatically describe the whole chapter.
- Officially announced: Epic confirmed that Season 1 launched December 1, 2024, with the 鬼 HUNTERS! theme, and later announced LAWLESS Season 2 content.
- Reported before launch: Japanese-inspired design, Oni masks, and expected collaborations such as Godzilla and Baymax appeared in GameSpot’s November 27, 2024 preview as leak-based expectations.
- Season-specific: Crime City, the heist loop, the listed Boons and items, and the named LAWLESS pass rewards were Season 2 details.
Chapter 6’s Season 2 LAWLESS ended May 2, 2025, Eastern Time, according to Epic. That date makes the pass price, rewards, and progression deadline historical; Chapter 6 content should not be mistaken for a description of Fortnite’s current island in 2026.
