This is a guide to the launch overview—not a complete account of every weapon, vault, unvault, or balance change across the season.
What changed in the Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 map?
Epic’s December 1, 2024 launch overview introduced an island combining cherry blossoms and traditional architecture with commercial districts, forests, and supernatural landmarks. Its named locations span mountain encounters, dense urban spaces, villages, and overgrown ruins.
| Location | How Epic described it |
|---|---|
| Warrior’s Watch | A grand structure under attack by lesser demons. |
| Flooded Frogs | A destination for combat training. |
| Shogun’s Solitude | A mountain location associated with combat encounters. |
| Seaport City | A dense commercial district suited to close-quarters encounters. |
| Canyon Crossing | A cliffside village area. |
| Magic Mosses | An overgrown sacred area with obelisks and underground treasures. |
| Nightshift Forest | A forest where the sun does not shine. |
Epic also described Shining Span as connecting Seaport City with neighboring villages and singled out the Great Turtle as a notable landmark. These are descriptions from the launch announcement; they do not establish loot density, landing advantages, exact coordinates, or competitive rankings. What weapons were in the Chapter 6 Season 1 launch overview?
Epic highlighted these seven firearms by name. The list reflects the weapons featured in its announcement, not a verified inventory of every item in the Battle Royale loot pool.

Epic stated: “All traditional weapons in Battle Royale Chapter 6 will be hitscan!” That launch announcement does not provide comparative damage, fire-rate, recoil, spawn-rate, or rarity data, so it cannot support a ranking of the firearms.
What did the Typhoon Blade and Oni Masks do?
The launch overview also highlighted gear that changed how players moved or fought, beyond conventional firearms.

- Typhoon Blade: Delivered rapid melee strikes. While wielded, it increased sprint speed and reduced stamina consumption while sprinting.
- Fire Oni Mask: Launched homing flame projectiles. Epic said lesser demons could drop Oni Masks.
- Void Oni Mask: Enabled teleportation. It was also among the Oni Masks that lesser demons could drop.
How did Weapon Expertise Quests work?
Weapon Expertise Quests connected combat with progression tied to weapon types. Epic’s examples included dealing damage or eliminating players with particular types. Completing quests awarded XP and unlocked the option to buy a Legendary version of the relevant weapon type from characters on the map. This was a quest-based purchase opportunity, distinct from simply finding a weapon during a match.
What did Sprites and Boons add?
Sprites offered situational effects, while Sprite Shrines and Boons added further utility. Epic described four Sprite types:

- Air Sprite: Could create an updraft vortex that allowed glider redeploy; the vortex could also damage builds and launch vehicles.
- Water Sprite: Could create a healing fountain that restored health and shields to nearby players.
- Earth Sprite: Consumed items offered to it in exchange for a reward.
Taking a Sprite to a Sprite Shrine could revitalize the shrine and grant a Boon. Epic said Boons could also drop from bosses or appear in Chests; they were consumed on pickup and persisted after elimination.
| Boon | Effect described by Epic |
|---|---|
| Fire | Faster weapon reloads. |
| Void | Player eliminations revealed nearby players. |
| Wind | Faster movement while holding the Pickaxe. |
| Water | Swimming granted health and shields to the player and nearby swimming squadmates. |
A separate Epic ecosystem post dated January 14, 2025, discussed Air and Water Sprites from Chapter 6 Season 1 in connection with the Wildlife Spawner device in Creative, alongside a new Earth Sprite device. That post concerns Creative/UEFN, not a Battle Royale loot-pool change. See Epic’s Fortnite Ecosystem v33.20 post.

How far does this launch overview go?
Epic’s December 1, 2024 article documents featured launch locations, named weapons, and selected mechanics. It does not establish a season-long chronology of Battle Royale weapon additions or removals, map updates, vaults, unvaults, or balance changes. Treat the items above as launch features highlighted by Epic, not a complete history of everything that appeared or changed during Chapter 6 Season 1.
