Fortnite Error Code -91 means you’re unable to join a party. Epic’s support guidance does not identify one cause for every occurrence, so start by checking whether Fortnite’s services are affected, then follow the troubleshooting steps for your platform.
1. Check whether Fortnite services are having an issue
Before changing your settings, check Epic Games Public Status. Look for an incident affecting Fortnite or parties, friends, and messaging. If there is one, wait for Epic’s update and check the status page again before continuing with local troubleshooting. The status page changes over time, so its current report—not an earlier snapshot—is what matters.

Console: Clear the console cache
Epic recommends trying a cache clear on consoles. The procedure depends on the system; use the directions for your platform rather than applying steps intended for another console. Epic links to instructions for PlayStation, Xbox Series S|X, and Nintendo Switch.
PlayStation or Xbox: Check crossplay
If you play on PlayStation or Xbox, make sure Fortnite crossplay is enabled. A crossplay setting can affect whether players on different platforms can join together.

Console: Check NAT
Epic also recommends troubleshooting NAT on consoles. Follow the guidance for your console and network; NAT settings and available instructions vary by platform.
3. Refresh your connection and device
If the service status is operational and the platform-specific checks have not helped, Epic suggests restarting your router or troubleshooting your internet connection, then restarting your device to refresh its system settings. Once the device is back online, try joining the party again.
