For All Sweat Summer in July 2024, Fortnite disabled vehicles, vehicle items, Boss Cars and Nitro Fists in Ranked Battle Royale and Ranked Zero Build, and players could no longer hire characters. The restrictions were first announced for July 4–18, then extended on July 19 for the remainder of that season. They were not announced as changes to every Fortnite mode.
What changed in Ranked
- Vehicles and vehicle items were disabled, including Boss Cars.
- Nitro Fists were disabled.
- Hiring characters was disabled.
The July 4 announcement said hostile characters and bosses remained available. Fortnite Status said the changes were intended to make Ranked reflect tournament rules; it did not report measured effects on fairness, rank outcomes or player numbers.
When the restrictions applied
| Date | Ranked rules update |
|---|---|
| July 4, 2024 | All Sweat Summer began. The initial announcement set the restrictions for July 4–18 in Ranked Battle Royale and Zero Build. Instant Gaming News |
| July 19, 2024 | Fortnite Status said the tournament-rules changes would continue in Ranked Battle Royale and Zero Build for the rest of the current season. It also said Ship-in-a-Bottle would not be present in Ranked. FNJPNews |
The July 18 date was therefore the end of the initial announced period, not the final end date of the restrictions. All Sweat Summer itself was a separate event; a community-maintained chronology dates it through August 16, 2024. Fortnite Wiki
Which Fortnite modes were affected?
The announcements named Ranked Battle Royale and Ranked Zero Build. They did not say that the same restrictions applied across all Fortnite modes. The change should be understood as a temporary Ranked ruleset for the 2024 event and season, not as a permanent removal or a statement about the current loot pool. Epic’s news archive includes later updates, and the 2024 announcements do not establish what is available in Ranked today.
