What can you change after choosing a Sidekick?

Epic Games Player Support puts the key warning plainly: “Remember that your choices are permanent after you lock them in.” If you buy the same Sidekick more than once, each copy in your Locker must have a different appearance; buying another copy is not a way to duplicate a look. Epic’s Sidekick customization instructions explain the permanent choice and duplicate-appearance rule.
How to customize a Sidekick in the Locker
These are the steps in Epic’s support instructions. Labels can change as Fortnite’s interface is updated.
- Open Locker.
- Select Sidekicks, then choose the Sidekick you want to customize.
- Set the appearance preferences offered for that Sidekick. Available choices vary, and some Sidekicks cannot be customized.
- Select NEXT STEP and review the appearance shown.
- When you are satisfied, hold LOCK-IN to confirm. This is the point at which the appearance becomes permanent.
- Choose or randomize a name, then finish customization.
Players using cabined accounts are shown a selection of names. Also, Epic says that if a Sidekick’s description states its appearance cannot be customized, neither its name nor its appearance can be changed. So a missing rename option may reflect that item’s restrictions, not a problem with the Locker.

What accessories and Sidekick Points do
Accessories are separate from the physical appearance locked in during customization. Epic’s October 30, 2025 Sidekick announcement gives hats and hoodies as examples of accessories and says they can be earned with Sidekick Points. Changing an accessory does not reopen or reset the permanent appearance selection.
Where Sidekicks can appear in Fortnite
Epic lists Sidekicks for Battle Royale, Save the World, Fortnite Festival (where they stay backstage), LEGO Fortnite, and developer-made experiences. In a developer-made experience, the island’s creator must enable Sidekicks, so their presence is not guaranteed on every island. Epic says Sidekicks provide no gameplay advantage and do not take damage. The Sidekick experience FAQ and cosmetic compatibility guide provide Epic’s experience and compatibility details; the compatibility guide lists Rocket Racing as unsupported.

Player customization and UEFN creator customization are different
Epic announced on June 5, 2026 that creators could use Sidekicks as scriptable NPCs on UEFN islands. In that creator workflow, a Sidekick offers four to eight preset channels for appearance attributes such as body shape, color or patterns, eye style, distinguishing features, and outfit. Creators can also adjust size, health, shield, and whether regular weapons can damage the NPC. They cannot build a new Sidekick from scratch, and Cosmetic Sync can make an NPC take the form of a joining player’s equipped Sidekick.
Those creator controls apply to NPCs on islands, not to a player’s Locker customization. They do not let you revise the permanent appearance of your own Sidekick. See Epic’s UEFN Sidekick NPC announcement for the creator feature details.

Do old launch offers or Shop prices still apply?
Epic’s October 30, 2025 announcement described Peels unlocking in the Battle Pass beginning November 1, and Bonesy, Spike, and Lil’ Raptor coming to the Shop November 7. It also said Bonesy Back Bling owners would receive the Bonesy Sidekick on November 7, 2025. Those are dated launch details, not evidence that the offers are available now.
Shop prices and availability can change. For example, Epic’s Spike Shop listing showed 1,200 V-Bucks and an end time of October 12, 2026 at 00:00 local time (GMT+00:00) when checked October 8, 2026. That example applies only to that listing at that time; it should not be treated as a general Sidekick price or a current offer after the stated end time. Check the Spike listing for its displayed status.
