Fortnite’s V-Bucks price change took effect on March 19, 2026. In the US dollar examples Epic announced, pack prices stayed the same while the amount of V-Bucks in each pack fell. For example, the $8.99 pack now includes 800 V-Bucks instead of 1,000.

Epic announced the change on March 10, 2026, and put it into effect on March 19. The following are Epic’s stated US dollar pack examples; they are not a complete price list for every country or platform.

Why did Epic raise V-Bucks prices?
Epic said the change was prompted by the cost of running Fortnite: “The cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot and we’re raising prices to help pay the bills.” That is the company’s explanation, not an independently verified breakdown of its costs.
In a GDC 2026 interview reported by GamesRadar+, Epic senior director of ecosystem growth Andrea Balta likewise described operating costs as the main reason for the increase. The available statements do not quantify those costs or establish the change’s financial impact.

Can you use V-Bucks bought from Epic on Nintendo Switch?
No. The US Epic Games Store listing warns that V-Bucks purchased there cannot be redeemed or used on Nintendo Switch. That restriction is specific to Epic Games Store purchases; do not assume the same rules apply to purchases through every platform’s store. Check the terms shown by the storefront and platform you intend to use before buying.
Can Epic Rewards reduce the effective cost?
Epic says qualifying purchases of Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League made through its payment system on PC, iOS, Android, and the web earn 20% back in Epic Rewards, subject to the program’s terms. This is not a universal discount at every console or platform storefront. Confirm that the purchase channel and item qualify in the official announcement and applicable Epic Rewards terms.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

What should you check before buying?
- Compare the total price for the amount of V-Bucks you actually want, rather than relying on one pack’s headline price.
- Check the live price and currency in your region and on your chosen platform; Epic’s published US examples do not establish local prices elsewhere.
- Confirm that V-Bucks bought through that storefront can be redeemed and used on your platform, especially if you play on Nintendo Switch.
- Factor in Epic Rewards only if the purchase is through an eligible channel and meets the program terms.
Epic Support lists physical V-Bucks card denominations of 1,000, 2,800, 5,000, and 13,500. Those denominations do not establish that a card is currently in stock at a particular retailer or compatible with every region and platform. Check the card’s terms and regional compatibility before purchasing; Epic’s V-Bucks purchase support page covers the listed denominations.
