The commonly named Fortnite Weapon Mod Bench locations—Lavish Lair, Reckless Railways, Grand Glacier, Fencing Fields, Snooty Steppes, and a floating island—are from Chapter 5 Season 1, not a verified current Battle Royale map list. As of October 8, 2026, the sources available here do not establish whether benches are on the live island or where to find them.
Where were the Fortnite Weapon Mod Benches in Chapter 5 Season 1?
GamesRadar’s Chapter 5 Season 1 guide listed six locations: five at named points of interest and one on a floating island. The five POI benches were inside vaults; players had to defeat the area boss and use the medallion to open the vault. The floating-island bench was the exception. These are historical locations and access details, not directions for the current map.
| Chapter 5 Season 1 location | Historical access detail |
|---|---|
| Lavish Lair | Inside the POI vault; defeat the area boss and use the medallion to open it. |
| Reckless Railways | Inside the POI vault; defeat the area boss and use the medallion to open it. |
| Grand Glacier | Inside the POI vault; defeat the area boss and use the medallion to open it. |
| Fencing Fields | Inside the POI vault; defeat the area boss and use the medallion to open it. |
| Snooty Steppes | Inside the POI vault; defeat the area boss and use the medallion to open it. |
| Floating island | The guide lists a bench there as the exception to the vault locations. |

Are there Mod Benches on the current Battle Royale map?
Current availability and locations are unverified. The latest map guide reviewed here is PC Gamer’s Chapter 7 Season 2 guide, last updated April 21, 2026; it covers map features but does not confirm whether Weapon Mod Benches are available. A Fortnite Wiki entry reports that benches were unavailable as of Chapter 6: Season 1, but that dated community reference does not establish their status in later seasons.

What did a Battle Royale Mod Bench do?
In Chapter 5 Season 1, Epic described Mod Benches as places to replace weapon mods in exchange for Bars. Mod-compatible weapons generally arrived with mods based on their rarity. These mechanics are documented for that season; they should not be assumed to apply to the current season. Epic also noted, “You don’t need a Mod Bench to wield a modded weapon.” See Epic’s Chapter 5 Season 1: Underground overview.

How Creative Weapon Mod Bench devices differ
Fortnite Creative has a Weapon Mod Bench device that creators can place on their own islands so players can customize moddable weapons. This is a creator-placed device, not evidence of a bench at any Battle Royale POI. Epic’s Creative documentation says the default mod cost follows the current Battle Royale season and may change. See Epic’s guide to Weapon Mod Bench devices in Fortnite Creative.
