Forza Horizon 5 is already available on PS5. Playground Games announced the port on January 30, 2025, as a spring release; general access for all editions began April 29, 2025. The original “coming this spring” wording described spring 2025, not an upcoming release. Playground Games’ announcement and its launch post establish the change from announcement to release.
When did Forza Horizon 5 release on PS5?
Premium Edition pre-orders received early access beginning April 25, 2025. The game opened to all PS5 players on April 29, 2025, when Playground Games confirmed it was available through the PlayStation Store. What is included in the PS5 version?
Playground Games said the PS5 version would have the same content as the Xbox and PC releases. It was developed by Panic Button in partnership with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games. The January 2025 announcement described the game at that time as having “nearly 900 cars,” “over 40 thematic game updates,” and two expansions; these are announcement-era figures, not a current inventory count. Read the original announcement.
The two expansions are Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure, which is set in Sierra Nueva. Previously released Car Packs and the expansions were also announced as available for purchase on PS5. The launch post additionally points players seeking Premium Edition content to a Premium Add-Ons Bundle. The launch post lists the expansions and bundle.

Can PS5 players play with friends on Xbox or PC?
Yes. Playground Games announced cross-play across PS5, Xbox consoles, and PC, so PS5 players can join friends on those platforms. The PS5 listing says Microsoft account registration is required for cross-platform play. PlayStation support also says the Microsoft account must be linked to access Hot Wheels or Rally Adventure on PS5. The announcement confirms cross-play; consult PlayStation support and the US store listing for account requirements.
Do you need PlayStation Plus or an internet connection?
PlayStation Plus is required for online gameplay, not for the game’s single-player mode: the US listing identifies one-player play and says online play is optional. The same listing says online play supports up to 12 players with PS Plus, online features require a PlayStation account, and a persistent internet connection is required. Store and support details can change, so check the live regional listing for the current requirements. PlayStation support and the US PlayStation Store page specify these conditions.
