If a gift car in Forza Horizon 5 will not claim or seems to vanish, first identify how it was sent: a Message Center reward is redeemed from a message, while a player-to-player Gift Drop is placed in the game world for its recipient to find. Forza has fixed or improved specific gift-related bugs in past updates, but those notes do not diagnose every current case or guarantee recovery of a missing reward.
Check which kind of gift you received
Message Center reward
A car gift or reward delivered through the in-game Message Center uses a redemption flow. If you can see the message but claiming it produces an error, this is the relevant category. Forza’s release-note collection says an April 5, 2023 update fixed an error some players encountered when redeeming car gifts through the Message Center, including Secret Santa rewards. That is a dated fix for a specific issue, not proof that the same defect explains a present-day error.
Player-to-player Gift Drop
A Gift Drop is not a Message Center redemption. A player selects a car from their garage and sends it for another player to find in their world. Forza’s Gift Drop description says the sender’s car is removed from their garage when sent. If you are looking for a Gift Drop, check the game world rather than treating it as a reward waiting to be claimed in the Message Center.
Missing or invisible gift message
A missing or invisible message is different from a visible message that fails when redeemed. Forza’s June 20, 2023 release notes say a client crash could occur after a player received an invisible generic “DLC Car DLC Car” player-gifting message, and that issue was fixed. The note documents a crash associated with a gift message; it does not say a car was removed from the recipient’s garage.

What Forza’s past fixes do—and do not—tell you
Forza’s January 30, 2024 release notes report improvements to some Message Center car-gift redemption errors, again citing Secret Santa rewards as an example. “Improvements” does not mean every redemption problem was resolved. The dated notes establish that specific gift-related defects were addressed, but they do not identify the cause of an individual current report or promise that a reward can be restored.
The official forum’s Gift-Drop topic index includes reports about unclaimable Message Center gifts and other gift problems. Those reports provide context that players have raised these issue types; a forum topic or report alone does not establish that a bug is widespread or currently affecting everyone.

What to do if the gift is still unavailable
- Identify the delivery flow. Note whether the problem concerns a Message Center reward, a Gift Drop you are meant to find in the world, or an invisible/missing message or crash.
- Record what happens. Include the message or reward name if visible, the error text, what you selected, and whether the game crashed. Note your platform and current game version so support can understand the context.
- Report a continuing issue through Forza’s official process. Turn 10 describes its Troubleshooting Hub and dedicated ticketing system as the way to report bugs, find workarounds, and follow issue status.
The official material does not provide a universal recovery checklist for every gift that cannot be claimed or appears to vanish. It also does not establish that reinstalling the game, changing account settings, or clearing local data will recover a gift, so do not assume those steps are official fixes for this symptom.
