If Forza Horizon 5 is running slowly or its frame rate keeps falling on PC, first compare your hardware with the game’s published system requirements. Then change one graphics setting at a time and compare the same repeatable gameplay scenario. Requirements do not promise a particular FPS, and there is no single setting or upgrade that fixes every cause.
First, pin down what “dropping FPS” means
Before changing settings, work out whether the problem is persistent low frame rate, occasional drops, or stutter. Note whether it happens in one area or across different gameplay, and whether it started after a game or graphics-driver update. These observations help distinguish symptoms; on their own, they do not identify a cause.
- Consistently low FPS: note whether performance is poor throughout the same kind of gameplay.
- Intermittent drops or stutter: record when they occur and whether you can reproduce them in a particular area or activity.
- Started after a change: record what changed and when, rather than assuming the update is responsible.
Write down your CPU, GPU, amount of memory, display resolution, graphics settings, game version, and the steps or location where the issue can be reproduced. You will need this information to compare changes fairly or make a useful issue report.
Compare your PC with Forza Horizon 5’s requirements
Steam lists these minimum and recommended requirements for Forza Horizon 5. They are hardware reference tiers, not promises of a particular frame rate.

Change one graphics setting at a time
Forza’s PC version offers a broad range of graphics settings and an unlocked frame rate. That flexibility lets you test whether a visual setting or resolution change makes a repeatable difference, but the available official sources do not identify one universally recommended setting for FPS drops.

- Choose a gameplay area or activity where you can reproduce the problem.
- Write down your current resolution and graphics settings so you can restore them.
- Change one setting, or lower the resolution incrementally, then repeat the same scenario.
- Compare the result with your original observation. Keep the change only if it produces a repeatable improvement; otherwise, restore the original value before testing something else.
Changing several options at once makes it harder to tell which change mattered. If the same scenario shows no measurable difference, record that result and move on rather than assuming a particular setting or frame-rate cap is an official fix.
Check official issue information and report reproducible problems
Forza’s reporting guidance describes tracking issues by status and says exact reproduction steps and workaround details help investigation. Reporting channels have changed: Forza announced that bug reports now go through its Feedback Portal, while Forza Support continues to publish release notes and FAQs. The forums have since been retired, so an old forum thread is not the current reporting route.

Check the live Forza Support site for current release notes and FAQs, and verify the available reporting route through Forza’s current forum notice before submitting a report. The issue-reporting article was published in 2023; do not assume that an old issue status is still current.
When reporting a reproducible FPS problem, include your CPU, GPU, memory, game version, resolution, graphics settings, where the drop occurs, and precise steps to reproduce it. Include whether a controlled settings change affected the same scenario. This gives investigators useful observations without presenting an unverified cause as fact.

Use the result to decide what to try next
- Below the minimum tier: your PC falls below at least one published baseline component. The requirements alone still do not quantify the FPS you will get.
- At or above the recommended tiers: the listed specifications do not guarantee a particular frame rate; keep diagnosing based on repeatable observations.
- A settings change helps consistently: retain the change that produced the improvement, and avoid changing unrelated options without a reason.
- No settings change helps, or the issue is repeatable: check current official issue information and report the problem with your system details and reproduction steps.
A GPU upgrade only follows from evidence that the GPU is the limiting component. Cooling or cleaning measures require evidence that heat or dust is involved; a monitor or steering wheel is not a remedy established by an FPS symptom alone.
