Mine Mining Outcrops in the High Rank Ruins of Wyveria to get Fucium Ore. You must unlock the High Rank locale first, and the ore is not guaranteed from every mining attempt.
Unlock High Rank Ruins of Wyveria
Reach Hunter Rank 20 and complete the mission Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns to access the High Rank version of Ruins of Wyveria, according to Game8’s Fucium Ore guide. Choose the High Rank locale: mining in the Low Rank version will not yield this High Rank material. The current item database also lists High Rank Ruins of Wyveria as its source (MHW Builds).

Find and mine outcrops
- Open the map in Ruins of Wyveria and use its Mining Outcrop filter to locate gathering nodes.
- Mine multiple outcrops. Fucium Ore is a possible result, not a guaranteed one, so keep checking nodes around the locale.
- Make a route. Game8 suggests starting near Base Camp and Area 1, then visiting Areas 4 and 5. Its route also includes Area 7 and additional outcrops reached by fast-traveling to the Entangled Canopy and Gap in Rubble camps. See the route details.
- Return after nodes reset. Mining outcrops can be revisited once they replenish, allowing another pass through your route.
Make gathering runs more efficient
Game8 recommends Geologist level 3 to improve mining efficiency. Equip it before making repeated outcrop runs, and use the map filter rather than searching the terrain without a route. Results still vary from node to node; the available sources do not establish a universal, publisher-confirmed drop rate.
What Fucium Ore is used for
Fucium Ore is used in equipment crafting and upgrades. The MHW Builds database, verified for game version 1.042 in 2026, lists it in 33 weapons and 8 armor sets; the quantity required depends on the individual recipe. Check the relevant recipe at the smithy before gathering. The database reproduces the in-game description: “A mysterious metal found in the Ruins of Wyveria, capable of fusing any other materials together.” (MHW Builds item entry.)

Which location should you farm?
Use High Rank Ruins of Wyveria as the supported source. An older PowerPyx guide also names High Rank Windward Plains, but the more specific Game8 guide and the current versioned item database identify Wyveria. The available evidence does not confirm Windward Plains as a source, so it is not included as a reliable farming location.
