EA says feedback and in-game data from Battlefield 6’s open beta informed development learnings, with those insights intended to shape adjustments in upcoming Battlefield Labs events. Ripple Effect technical director Christian Buhl has also described a deliberate choice to put the game in front of players and gather telemetry despite expecting leaks. That shows a player-feedback strategy—not proof that Battlefield 6 was tested more often than earlier games or that testing will prevent another troubled launch.
How often is Battlefield 6 being playtested?
The available public information does not establish a total number or schedule of Battlefield 6 playtests, so it is not possible to verify how often they took place or compare their frequency with previous Battlefield games. DICE’s general playtesting information describes several formats, but does not give Battlefield 6-specific counts.
Formats DICE describes
- Community Playtests: Short sessions focused on areas such as performance. Builds may be unfinished and can contain bugs or crash.
- Extended Playtests: Tests that run across multiple days or weeks.
- Surveys and focus groups: Additional ways to gather player feedback.
These formats explain how DICE can collect different kinds of feedback; they do not show how many times each was used for Battlefield 6, when each occurred, or how broad the player and geographic coverage was.
Do open-beta and Battlefield Labs feedback lead to changes?
EA’s Battlefield 6 Open Beta Debrief says the team reviewed player feedback alongside in-game data to identify learnings and changes. EA also said insights from beta sessions would inform adjustments in upcoming Battlefield Labs events. The debrief identifies matchmaking concerns and mode and playlist choices among the subjects reviewed.

This is evidence of a stated feedback loop: players take part, EA reviews what they report and what happens in the game, and the resulting insights feed into later development work. It does not establish that every reported issue was fixed, specify the full set of resulting changes, or demonstrate that a particular change prevented a launch problem.
Why did the team prioritize putting players in front of the game?
In a September 12, 2025 report, PC Gamer recounted an IGN interview with Christian Buhl, technical director at Ripple Effect. Buhl said the team chose to favor getting the game in front of players and collecting feedback, telemetry, and data even though it expected some material to leak. He framed the trade-off as prioritizing real player input, not seeking leaks.

That account supports the idea that player testing was a deliberate development priority. It is an interview-based report of Buhl’s explanation, not an EA announcement of a quantified testing plan or proof that the approach guarantees a smooth launch.

The available sources do not establish that Battlefield 2042’s launch problems caused Battlefield 6’s testing approach, or that avoiding a repeat was the program’s formal goal. The connection is a reasonable question, but the evidence supports only the stated feedback practices and Buhl’s explanation of the player-first trade-off.

EA’s September 15, 2021 announcement delaying Battlefield 2042 said the game would launch worldwide on November 19, 2021. DICE Studio GM Oskar Gabrielson cited pandemic-related development challenges, the game’s scale and scope, and extra time to deliver the intended experience. That announcement documents the reason EA gave for the delay; it does not itself establish that the eventual launch was a disaster or explain Battlefield 6’s later testing decisions.
