Your wheel model, platform, firmware, driving style and preferred steering feel all change the result. For a Fanatec wheel, the manufacturer’s published starting point is Simulation steering, Wheel Damper Scale 0.2, and, on Xbox, Force Feedback Scale 1.5 with Steering Rotation 1440. Those values are specifically for Fanatec hardware, not a universal preset. Controller players should start with a comfortable remap and driving-assist configuration because Playground Games has confirmed full remapping but has not published official sensitivity, deadzone or linearity numbers.
The settings below are starting points for a steadier, more predictable feel. None of the cited sources establishes a controlled lap-time or handling advantage for a particular device or value.

What FH6 officially supports
Playground Games’ March 25, 2026 PC article says Forza Horizon 6 has “the same robust controller support as seen in Forza Horizon 5,” and that every steering wheel compatible with Forza Horizon 5 will also be supported in FH6. This is a broad compatibility statement, not a model-by-model list. It does not confirm that every console and PC variant, firmware revision or driver will behave identically.

If you are unsure about a specific base, rim or console/PC combination, check the wheel maker’s current compatibility information and firmware notes. A wheel being compatible in principle does not remove the need for correct drivers, console mode, USB connection and in-game mapping.

Playground Games also confirms full controller remapping on all platforms, together with returning difficulty and driving-assist options. That gives you room to place steering, throttle, brake, handbrake and camera controls where your fingers can use them consistently, but it does not establish numerical values for steering sensitivity, deadzones or linearity.
Controller settings: build consistency without chasing unsupported numbers
What is confirmed
There is no official FH6 controller preset in the cited material for inner deadzone, outer deadzone, steering sensitivity or steering linearity. Third-party tables may show precise numbers, but they are not validated by the evidence available here. Treat any value you find elsewhere as an experiment for your own pad rather than a developer-approved baseline.
Set up the controls first
- Open the game’s controller configuration and use the full remapping feature to put steering, throttle and brake on controls you can operate without moving your thumb from the stick or lifting a trigger finger.
- Choose the driving assists that match your current control. If small stick movements make the car nervous, keep assists that improve confidence while you learn; reduce them only when you can repeat the same line and braking point.
- Check that the game is receiving the complete range of both sticks and triggers. A controller that does not reach full travel can feel like a bad sensitivity setting.
- Change one control or assist at a time. Drive the same car on the same section of road, in similar weather and traffic, so you can tell whether the change feels more predictable.
This is practical tuning advice, not a proven test protocol. The cited sources do not define a controlled controller comparison or demonstrate that a particular deadzone improves lap times.

- Compatibility: Exclusively designed for XBOX X/S OEM controllers. Not compatible with XBOX One, XBOX Elite, XBOX 360, Aftermarket, or any other controller models.
- Controller functionality: Screen shot button is not accessible and right stick is limited in the left direction. A short break-in period may be required for optimal performance.
- Snap-On Design: Easy to install and remove, with no additional tools required. Simply snap it onto your controller and start racing!
- Enhanced Gaming Experience: Provides a more realistic steering experience, making it ideal for racing games like Forza Horizon, F1 2023, and more.
- Non-Slip Grip: Thumb impressions on the steering wheel surface ensure a firm and comfortable grip, reducing hand fatigue during extended gaming sessions.
Signs that a controller setting needs attention
- Car moves before the stick leaves center: check for physical stick drift and increase the inner deadzone only enough to stop unintended input.
- Car reaches full steering too soon: inspect the outer-deadzone or sensitivity control if FH6 exposes one on your platform; do not assume a value from another game transfers directly.
- Corrections feel abrupt: use a gentler steering response or an assist, then retest with the same car and road.
- Throttle or brake is difficult to modulate: remap if necessary and verify trigger travel before changing steering settings.
Limited-edition controller context
Xbox announced a Forza Horizon 6 Limited Edition Controller and Headset on April 20, 2026. The announcement identifies an optional accessory, but it does not claim better steering precision, handling or performance, and it does not establish current retail availability. Choose it for its layout or design, not on the assumption that the hardware creates a faster or more stable car.
Wheel settings: use values only with the hardware they belong to
Fanatec starting point
Fanatec’s “Forza Horizon 6 – Recommended Settings” page, last updated May 15, 2026, provides a named baseline for Fanatec owners. Apply the game-side values through the indicated menus, then consult the full Fanatec guide for the exact wheel base and platform. Fanatec lists additional tuning-menu values for individual bases, including Podium DD1/DD2 and CSL DD/GT DD Pro; those tables should not be collapsed into one universal preset.
| Setting | Fanatec value | Scope and source |
|---|---|---|
| Difficulty → Steering | Simulation | Fanatec wheel starting point; Fanatec guide, updated May 15, 2026 |
| Advanced Controls → Invert Force Feedback | Off | Fanatec wheel starting point; Fanatec guide, updated May 15, 2026 |
| Advanced Controls → Wheel Damper Scale | 0.2 | Fanatec wheel starting point; Fanatec guide, updated May 15, 2026 |
| Xbox → Force Feedback Scale | 1.5 | Fanatec Xbox recommendation; Fanatec guide, updated May 15, 2026 |
| Xbox → Steering Rotation | 1440 | Fanatec Xbox recommendation; Fanatec guide, updated May 15, 2026 |
“Simulation” is therefore a documented Fanatec starting choice, not proof that every player or every wheel should use it. If the steering feels too light, too sharp or too tiring, change one parameter and retest rather than copying numbers from another base.

Logitech G923 anecdote
A May 15, 2026 Forza community-forum post from one Logitech G923 owner said FH6 force feedback felt weak compared with FH5. The user reported “some improvement” after trying Force Feedback Scale 1.3, Force Feedback Minimum 1.3 and Steering Linearity 33.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
| Setting | Reported value | Evidence and limits |
|---|---|---|
| Force Feedback Scale | 1.3 | One G923 owner’s forum experiment; not official or independently tested |
| Force Feedback Minimum | 1.3 | One G923 owner’s forum experiment; not official or independently tested |
| Steering Linearity | 33 | One G923 owner’s forum experiment; not official or independently tested |
Do not combine those G923 numbers with the Fanatec values as though they were equivalent. They come from different hardware, a different platform context may apply, and one person’s report cannot guarantee the same result for another G923 unit, firmware version or driving style.
How to tune a wheel for steadier steering
- Update and identify the hardware. Confirm the exact wheel base, rim, pedals, platform mode and firmware. Record the original settings so you can undo a change.
- Start from the manufacturer’s profile. Fanatec owners can begin with Simulation, Invert Force Feedback Off and Wheel Damper Scale 0.2, adding the Xbox values only when playing on Xbox. Owners of other wheels should use their maker’s documented baseline rather than borrowing Fanatec numbers.
- Check steering range. Rotation changes how much physical movement corresponds to in-game steering. Fanatec’s Xbox starting value is 1440, but the cited evidence does not establish a universal rotation value for other bases, platforms or cars.
- Set force feedback conservatively. Increase strength only until road and tire information is readable without clipping, oscillation or fatigue. The sources provide no controlled threshold for “correct” strength.
- Change one value. After each adjustment, drive the same car over the same road section. Keep weather, assists and camera unchanged. This isolates your perception of the change, although it remains a personal comparison rather than a validated laboratory test.
- Stop when corrections become repeatable. The useful result is a wheel that lets you make the same turn-in and countersteer smoothly, not a particular number that looks optimal on paper.
Fixing weak or inconsistent force feedback
Check the physical and software path
- Verify the wheel is in the correct Xbox or PC mode before launching FH6.
- Reconnect USB power and data, then confirm the game detects the wheel and pedals.
- Check the wheel maker’s firmware and driver notes for your exact model and platform.
- Confirm that Force Feedback is enabled and that Invert Force Feedback is not reversed; Fanatec’s published baseline specifies Off.
- Make sure another software layer is not applying a conflicting profile.
Separate weak feedback from incorrect feedback
Weak feedback may come from a low scale, a damper setting, a power or driver problem, or a wheel that simply has less motor torque than another model. Incorrect feedback can feel like a reversed direction, excessive damping, oscillation or a dead center. Fix the physical and polarity checks first; only then experiment with strength, minimum force, damper or linearity.

When to try the G923 report
If you own a Logitech G923 and have already verified the connection and firmware, you may test the forum user’s 1.3/1.3/33 combination one value at a time. Label it as an anecdotal experiment, keep a record of the original profile and revert if the wheel clips, oscillates or becomes less controllable.

That context does not create a special drift wheel or controller preset. A wheel may suit players who prefer continuous countersteer, while a controller may make rapid corrections easier for others. Treat steering rotation, linearity, force feedback and assists as preference-dependent, and change them separately from the traction-control choice required for your chosen drift challenge.
What the published evidence does—and does not—show
- FH6’s broad controller and wheel compatibility is an official Playground Games statement dated March 25, 2026.
- Full controller remapping and returning driving assists are official features, but no official numerical controller sensitivity, deadzone or linearity preset is established here.
- Fanatec’s values are manufacturer recommendations for Fanatec hardware, with separate Xbox and wheel-base context.
- The G923 values come from one community post and are not a tested fix.
- No cited source measures handling gains, lap-time improvements or a universal “best” setup.
Use the published numbers as starting points with their device and platform labels attached. The final setting is the one that gives your hardware a predictable, repeatable response without masking problems in firmware, wiring, calibration or physical wear.
