Forza Motorsport Update 8 began rolling out on May 13, 2024, bringing changes to Featured Multiplayer Safety Ratings and matchmaking alongside a limited-time Track Toys Career tour. The update was for the existing game, not a new release. Its scheduled Track Toys events and rewards ended in 2024, so they are historical rather than current offers.
When Update 8 arrived
Turn 10 Studios announced the update on May 13, 2024. The download rollout began at 10:00 a.m. PT (5:00 p.m. UTC) that day on Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Microsoft Store and Steam. Spotlight cars and new events started May 15 at 5:00 p.m. PT (12:00 a.m. UTC on May 16). Turn 10’s Update 8 overview has the original schedule.

How Update 8 changed Safety Ratings and matchmaking
The multiplayer changes addressed two separate things: how Safety Ratings were determined and how players were placed into lobbies. Turn 10 said the changes took effect after a player’s first race in Update 8.

These are the changes Turn 10 described; the announcement does not provide player-outcome data quantifying their effect on race quality.

What was in the Track Toys Tour
The limited-time Career tour focused on high-performance cars between road cars and racecars. Turn 10 described it as an opportunity to drive “high-performance cars that you could see hot lapping on the racetrack.” The four series featured these cars:
- Ginetta Juniors: 2019 Ginetta G40 Junior, listed in the announcement at 100 horsepower.
- Weekend Warriors: 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS.
- Kit Caterhams: 2013 Caterham Superlight R500, listed at 267 horsepower and 0–60 mph in 2.9 seconds.
- Track Toys: 2019 Elemental RP1, listed at 320 horsepower.
The horsepower and acceleration figures are from Turn 10’s game announcement, not independent vehicle tests. The four series could be completed in any order and at any point through June 27, 2024. Completing all four awarded the 2019 Porsche #70 Porsche Motorsport 935. That event window has passed.

Other Career events and Spotlight schedule
Update 8 also refreshed the Open Class Tour, moving it to the Featured tab in Career mode. Completing that tour during the update period awarded the 2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupé. The weekly Spotlight cars, event windows, and in-game credit discounts were scheduled as follows:

These were temporary in-game events and discounts, not statements about current availability or real-world car prices.

Customization, tire wear, and AI adjustments
Vinyl Material tool
The livery editor gained a Vinyl Material tool for adjusting vinyl uniformly from matte to glossy. A reset option matched the vinyl’s glossiness to the car paint. Designs imported from Forza Horizon 5 that used its similar feature retained their material values.
Tire Wear Scale
Free Play and Private Multiplayer gained a Tire Wear Scale setting, ranging from 0.5x to 10x, with 1x as the default. At 2x, tires wear twice as fast. Players could change it in the Event Setup Rules tab or through the Fuel & Tire menu while on track. The setting changes tire wear rate for those modes; it is not a general change to all multiplayer events.

Drivatar AI and Featured Multiplayer car classes
Turn 10 adjusted Drivatar braking behavior to reduce unnecessary braking while passing, when cars ran side by side through corners, at corner apexes, and on straights. Update 8 also moved the 2020 KTM X-Bow GT2 and 2020 Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 from Forza GT Series to Modern Factory Racecar Series in Featured Multiplayer, while the 2019 Porsche #70 Porsche Motorsport 935 moved into Forza GT Series.
