It keeps the board game’s rules as its foundation while making play easier to start, manage, and share online. It is an adaptation, not a one-to-one digital copy: Snapshot Games has described changes to some mechanics and scenarios, alongside an introductory adventure and difficulty options intended to help new players get comfortable.
When is Frosthaven coming to PC, and where can you play it?
Steam lists July 31, 2025 as the start of Early Access and October 15, 2026 as the planned official launch. Frosthaven’s official site also announces PC 1.0 for October 15, 2026, while Arc Games’ June 30, 2026 announcement names both Steam and the Epic Games Store for the PC release. These are announced dates, not confirmation that the 1.0 launch has already happened.
The game is developed by Snapshot Games and adapts the Frosthaven board game by Isaac Childres and Cephalofair Games. Official descriptions list solo play as well as online co-op; the official site specifies online groups of two to four players.
What does the PC version change about playing Frosthaven?
Less table administration, more automated handling
A digital version can take care of game handling that tabletop players manage with physical components. That reduces setup friction and makes it practical to play with friends who are not in the same room. Snapshot Games CEO Julian Gollop described the benefit in a 2025 GamesRadar+ interview: “The accessibility of the video game makes it much easier to dive into, or continue an online session with your friends.”

A new visual presentation, built on familiar rules
In that interview, game director Hristo Petkov said the team used the board game’s rules as the foundation and reimagined how they appear on screen. The developers characterized the adaptation as highly faithful, but also acknowledged that some scenarios and mechanics needed digital-specific treatment. Petkov said those changes were made with Isaac Childres’s approval. The result should be understood as a version of Frosthaven designed for PC play, not a literal translation of every tabletop procedure.
Onboarding designed for newcomers
The developers described a tutorial and a four-mission introductory adventure with a simplified outpost phase. Petkov said the intro adventure was designed by the team in collaboration with Isaac Childres. They also described a Story difficulty intended to be easier than the tabletop game and another difficulty intended to be harder. Those details come from the July 2025 interview; the available announcements do not independently confirm how every feature is implemented in the October 2026 build.

Nothing in the available information establishes that owning the tabletop game is required to play the PC adaptation.
