“The procedure entry point could not be located”
This usually indicates that FL Studio is loading a mismatched or incompatible component. The DLL may not belong to the same installation as the FL Studio executable, or another related component may be outdated or damaged.
Crashes or access violations
A crash does not prove that fruity scratcher.dll is solely responsible. The project may contain another plugin, a bridged 32-bit component, damaged project data, or a broader installation problem.
Fix 1: Repair FL Studio with the official installer

Step 2: Get the installer from Image-Line
Download the current FL Studio installer only from Image-Line’s official FL Studio download page. Avoid repackaged installers and DLL-only downloads.
If you have an older project that requires a legacy FL Studio build, make a note of that before replacing the installation. Do not delete the old installation until you know which projects and plugins depend on it.
Step 3: Run the installer over the existing installation
- Open the downloaded FL Studio installer.
- If Windows displays a User Account Control prompt, select Yes.
- Choose the existing FL Studio installation location when prompted.
- Continue through the installation.
- Allow the installer to replace missing or damaged native files.
- Restart Windows after installation completes.
Uninstalling FL Studio first is normally unnecessary. An installer-over-install repairs the program while preserving the installation’s user data and projects. For a severely damaged installation, use Image-Line’s documented clean-uninstall procedure, but back up your FL Studio user-data folder first.
Step 4: Test the effect
Open FL Studio and load Fruity Scratcher from the effect plugin list. If it opens without an error, the repair worked.
If FL Studio still reports the DLL as missing, continue with the antivirus and file-location checks below. Do not immediately download a replacement file.
Fix 2: Check whether antivirus quarantined the file
Security software can remove or quarantine a native application file. A quarantine entry does not automatically prove that the file was malicious, but it also should not be ignored.
Check Windows Security
- Open Start.
- Type Windows Security and open it.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an entry mentioning

Fix 3: Confirm the installation path
A common mistake is repairing one FL Studio installation while Windows launches another.
Find the executable being used
- Start FL Studio.
- Open Task Manager with
Ctrl+Shift+Esc. - Select the Details tab.
- Locate
FL.exeorFL64.exe. - Right-click it and select Open file location.
Check the folder containing the executable. The native Fruity Scratcher file should be associated with that FL Studio installation, not copied from another computer or another version.
If multiple FL Studio installations exist, close all copies and repair the one that launches your projects. Removing duplicate installations without checking project dependencies can create additional missing-plugin errors.

Use the plugin scan when the file has been restored or the installation has been repaired, but Fruity Scratcher still does not appear in FL Studio.

- Open FL Studio.
- Select Options.
- Choose File settings.
- Open Manage plugins.
- Select Find installed plugins.
- Select Verify plugins if the option is available.
- If the plugin was previously verified but is no longer working, select Rescan previously verified plugins.
- Wait for the scan to finish.
- Search the plugin list for Fruity Scratcher.
Do not add the FL Studio native-plugin folder as an arbitrary third-party VST location unless Image-Line’s installation instructions specifically require it. Native FL Studio effects and third-party VST plugins are managed differently.
If the scan produces an error, note the full message and the folder being scanned. A scan cannot repair a missing DLL; it can only rediscover and verify files that are present and compatible.
Fix 5: Check an old project separately
If only one .flp project reports fruity scratcher.dll, the global FL Studio installation may be working correctly.
Try this sequence:
- Open FL Studio without loading the problem project.
- Create a new empty project.
- Load Fruity Scratcher manually.
- Open a recent backup of the affected project.

Fix 6: Check 32-bit and 64-bit compatibility
Architecture matters when an old project or old FL Studio installation is involved.
FL Studio 20.9 and later are 64-bit only. Earlier releases, including the FL Studio 20.5 era, could include both 32-bit and 64-bit executables. A project created with an older 32-bit environment may depend on legacy plugins or paths that are not available in a current 64-bit installation.
Identify the executable
- Open the FL Studio installation folder.
- Check whether you are launching
FL.exeorFL64.exe. - In Task Manager, right-click the running executable and select Properties if available.
- Review the installation and project history.
A 32-bit/64-bit mismatch can contribute to loading failures, but the exact cause requires examining the actual file and error context. “Not designed to run on Windows” may instead indicate corruption or a counterfeit replacement.
If a particular legacy project is essential, keep a supported matching legacy FL Studio installation only when necessary. Update third-party plugins where possible, and avoid mixing DLLs between different FL Studio installations.
Fix 7: Check disk and file corruption
If the file repeatedly disappears, becomes unreadable, or is restored only to fail again, check the storage device and the installation itself.

Do not assume that Windows system-file repair tools will restore fruity scratcher.dll. It is an Image-Line application file, not normally a protected Windows system file.
Fix 8: Repair Windows components only when other symptoms justify it
SFC and DISM are useful when Windows itself shows broader corruption, such as damaged built-in applications, failed Windows components, or repeated system-file errors. They are not the primary repair for a missing FL Studio plugin.

sfc /scannow
Restart Windows and test FL Studio again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. These commands repair protected Windows files and the Windows component store. They normally do not replace a missing Image-Line DLL, so reinstall FL Studio even if both commands complete successfully.
Repeating SFC and DISM without knowing what changed can waste time while the actual problem remains an incomplete application installation. Fix 9: Use System Restore after a recent change
System Restore is reasonable if the error began immediately after a driver installation, Windows change, or other software installation and the restore point predates the problem.
- Press
Win+R. - Type:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point from before the error began.
- Select Next, then Finish.
- Allow Windows to restart.
System Restore does not replace a proper FL Studio installation repair, and it may not be available. Back up current work before using it.

fruity scratcher.dll is not a driver DLL, so Device Manager is not the normal repair location.
Do not search Device Manager for Fruity Scratcher. Updating a display or audio driver may help only if FL Studio itself crashes, produces audio-device errors, or shows graphics problems after the DLL issue is resolved.
If a separate audio-driver problem is present:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if prompted.
You can also visit the hardware manufacturer’s official support page for the correct driver. Windows Features are also not a normal solution. Enabling .NET Framework, DirectX components, or Visual C++ redistributables solely because a generic DLL page recommends them does not restore this Image-Line file. Use those components only when a specific, verified FL Studio or plugin error requires them.
Why regsvr32 normally does not apply
regsvr32 is not a universal DLL repair tool. It is intended for DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer.

A native FL Studio effect is normally loaded by FL Studio from its installation and plugin database. It is not repaired by registering it globally with Windows.
Running a command such as this is therefore not a recommended fix:
regsvr32 fruity scratcher.dll
It may produce an error, change nothing, or encourage you to place the file in the wrong directory. Use FL Studio’s installer and plugin manager instead.

Why downloading the DLL is risky
Random DLL repositories can provide:
- Malware or tampered files
- The wrong architecture
- A mismatched FL Studio build
- Incorrect embedded product information
- A file that works only long enough to create another failure
Copying the file into System32 or SysWOW64 can create version conflicts and exposes the system to untrusted code. Copying it into a VST folder can also make FL Studio search the wrong location.
The safe source is the official Image-Line FL Studio installer. If antivirus quarantined a file, verify its provenance and path before restoring it. Never substitute a downloaded file merely because its name matches.

If repair and scanning do not solve the problem, record:
- The complete error message
- Your Windows version and whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit
- Your FL Studio version
- Whether
