Fulgur Anjanath is an electrically charged Anjanath subspecies introduced in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Its charged state changes how it attacks and which element is most effective against it: ice is a strong weakness when it is not charged, while water is a strong weakness when it is. The details below distinguish Capcom’s description from information reported by a secondary monster reference.
What is Fulgur Anjanath?
Fulgur Anjanath is a Brute Wyvern subspecies of Anjanath in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Capcom included it in the Iceborne monster roster in an article published August 29, 2019, describing it as an electric take on Anjanath. The article’s author, Yuri Araujo, called the twist “electric charged snot”—promotional wording rather than a technical explanation of the monster’s biology. Capcom News, August 29, 2019.
Monster Hunter Tools gives it the epithet “Thunderjaw Wyvern.” That reference says Fulgur Anjanath electrifies its jaws and dorsal membrane, and that its hide hardens and its attacks gain elemental damage when it is charged. These are gameplay details from a secondary reference, not a full official Capcom ecology entry. Monster Hunter Tools: Fulgur Anjanath.
Where does Fulgur Anjanath appear?
Monster Hunter Tools lists Fulgur Anjanath in these Monster Hunter: World areas: Ancient Forest, Coral Highlands, Elder’s Recess, Hoarfrost Reach, Rotten Vale, and Wildspire Waste. It also lists Coral, Forest, Rotted, Tundra, Volcanic, and Wildspire regions of the Guiding Lands. This location list comes from a secondary reference; it is not a location breakdown in Capcom’s 2019 roster article.

| Elemental weakness | Monster Hunter Tools rates ice as a strong weakness when uncharged and water as a strong weakness when charged. | A comparable weakness rating for regular Anjanath is not established by these sources. |
The sources support electricity and charged-state behavior as the defining differences; they do not establish a side-by-side difference in size, habitat, temperament, or difficulty.
What is Fulgur Anjanath weak to?
According to Monster Hunter Tools, ice is a strong weakness in Fulgur Anjanath’s normal state, while water is a strong weakness in its charged state. The reference marks thunder as ineffective. These are the reference’s ratings, not official Capcom star ratings; check the in-game Hunter’s Notes or a current authoritative guide for the details relevant to your version and quest.
The same reference lists the upper head and tail end as weak points. It identifies the upper head as especially vulnerable to cutting and blunt damage, and the tail end as especially vulnerable to blunt and ammo damage. It lists the head, legs, and tail as breakable parts.
How do you fight Fulgur Anjanath?
- Choose an element for its state. Use ice while Fulgur Anjanath is uncharged and water while it is charged, following Monster Hunter Tools’ state-dependent weakness ratings. Avoid thunder, which the reference marks ineffective.
- Watch for the charge. The secondary reference describes the jaws and dorsal membrane becoming electrified. Treat that change as a cue that its attacks have elemental damage and its hide has hardened.
- Focus attacks on the head to pressure the charge. Monster Hunter Tools recommends concentrating blows on the head to dissipate the charge. Its hit-zone information also identifies the upper head as a weak point.
- Target parts with a purpose. The head, legs, and tail can be broken according to the reference. Its listed weak point at the tail end is not the same as a claim that every part of the tail takes equally high damage.
- Reassess when its state changes. Because the recommended element changes between normal and charged states, adjust your damage expectations and openings rather than treating one weakness as universal.
Monster Hunter Tools is a secondary guide, so use its locations, elemental ratings, part vulnerabilities, and charge advice as reference information rather than as a guarantee for every quest condition.
