G’AIM’E Brings the Original Time Crisis Back to Modern TVs—With Important Limits

G’AIM’E makes the original arcade-style Time Crisis playable on modern TVs, but its closed four-game library and calibration-dependent tracking are important compromises.

Yes—G’AIM’E makes the original arcade-style Time Crisis playable on modern LCD, LED, OLED televisions and compatible projectors. It combines a camera-equipped light gun, an HDMI mini-console and, in higher-priced bundles, the foot pedal that restores the series’ signature hide-and-fire control. But this is not a new Time Crisis sequel, a universal light-gun platform or a flawless replacement for a CRT arcade setup.

Its biggest strengths are convenience, official licensing and a genuinely self-contained setup. Its biggest weaknesses are a small, fixed game library and accuracy that depends on calibration, lighting, screen visibility and display latency.

What is G’AIM’E?

G’AIM’E is a plug-and-play light-gun system developed by Japanese company Tassei Denki. According to the manufacturer, the product is officially licensed by Bandai Namco Entertainment and includes the original arcade versions of Time Crisis, Point Blank, Steel Gunner and Steel Gunner 2.

The system has three main parts:

  • A G’AIM’E light gun with a camera built into the barrel.
  • An HDMI-connected mini-console containing the licensed games.
  • A wired foot pedal for Time Crisis’s cover mechanic, included with selected bundles.

The Ultimate Pack adds a second gun and includes the pedal, power adapter, HDMI cable, quick-start guide and collector items. See the official Ultimate Pack listing for the package contents.

  • Shockproof - The weapon light with green beam is shockproof. And it support 4.5hr/ green beam; 45 min/ flashlight & green beam; 60 min/ Flashlight only

In practical terms, G’AIM’E recreates the arcade routine: point at the display, shoot enemies and press the pedal to hide behind cover. It does not recreate the original cabinet, CRT electronics or the wider Time Crisis franchise.

Why classic light guns do not work on most modern TVs

Traditional console light guns were designed around CRT televisions. They used the timing and scanning behavior of a cathode-ray display to determine where the gun was pointed. Flat-panel screens render and process images differently, so an old CRT light gun cannot simply be connected to an LCD or OLED television and expected to work.

Modern light-gun systems solve the problem in different ways. Some use infrared reference points or sensor bars, some track a visible border around the game image, and others combine cameras, motion sensors or gyroscopes. For example, Sinden Lightgun uses a border-based approach for LCD play.

G’AIM’E’s distinctive approach is to put the camera inside the gun. The system attempts to recognize the display itself, removing the need for a separate infrared bar or permanent white border.

What “AI-powered” means in G’AIM’E

“AI-powered” is marketing shorthand here, not a claim that generative AI changes the game. The gun’s camera observes the screen, the software identifies its boundaries and visual characteristics, and the system estimates the gun’s position so it can align the shot with the displayed image.

Tassei Denki says its recognition technology was trained using more than 3,000 different screens. That figure comes from the manufacturer and reporting about the product; it is not an independently audited performance benchmark. The useful innovation is best described as trained computer vision for screen detection and self-calibration.

It does not create new levels, improve enemy behavior, enhance the original graphics or eliminate calibration problems. It makes modern-display aiming simpler, provided the camera can clearly see the screen.

Which games are included?

The official product material identifies four licensed titles:

  • Time Crisis
  • Point Blank
  • Steel Gunner
  • Steel Gunner 2

The system does not include Time Crisis 2, Time Crisis 3, Time Crisis 4 or Time Crisis 5. It also is not advertised as including The House of the Dead, Virtua Cop or other third-party light-gun games.

This is a closed system. Independent coverage reports that buyers cannot install additional games, and the available evidence does not indicate a downloadable game store or user-loadable ROM support. That limitation matters as much as the included titles: G’AIM’E is a dedicated way to play its small licensed library, not a general-purpose light-gun console.

Official product information lists English and Japanese regional editions. The core gameplay is described as the same, but menus, prompts and some visual elements may vary by region.

Is it really the original Time Crisis experience?

It is intended to reproduce the original arcade game and preserves the defining cover-and-shoot rhythm. The foot pedal is especially important: without it, the game loses the physical control that makes Time Crisis different from a conventional light-gun shooter.

That does not mean perfect technical parity with an arcade cabinet. A modern display introduces processing and timing variables, and camera tracking can occasionally jitter or feel slightly delayed. The fairest description is close, enjoyable arcade-style play under suitable conditions, not pixel-perfect or latency-free reproduction.

Nor does the product establish a new Bandai Namco sequel. It brings access to the original game through licensed hardware; “back from the dead” describes availability and nostalgia, not a confirmed franchise revival.

G’AIM’E bundles and current prices

The official U.S. store listed the following prices on August 18, 2026:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Bundle Listed price Best suited to
Basic $99.99 A single player who mainly wants Time Crisis
Premium $149.99 A player who wants the foot pedal and the expanded four-game package
Ultimate $199.99 Two-player use, the complete hardware bundle and collectors
Additional pedal $29.99 Owners who need another or replacement pedal
Standalone gun $69.99 Adding a gun to an existing system, subject to compatibility

The Ultimate Pack is described as including two guns, the mini-console, pedal, all four games, power and HDMI accessories and collector items. The Premium and Ultimate packages include the pedal, while the Basic package is the cheaper single-player entry point. Check the official store for the exact contents of the regional listing before ordering.

Availability also needs checking. The store landing page and the individual Ultimate listing have displayed conflicting stock signals, so do not assume every bundle is available in every region. Shipping is calculated at checkout, and international buyers may owe taxes or import duties. The store’s stated return policy generally allows unused products in original packaging to be returned within 14 days; read the current shipping and returns policy before purchase.

Setup: what your TV or projector needs

G’AIM’E is simpler than a PC light-gun build, but “plug and play” does not mean “no setup.” The camera must be able to see all four edges of the displayed image.

  1. Place the television or projector image where its entire border is visible.
  2. Remove objects, lamps and bright windows immediately around the screen.
  3. Reduce glare and strong reflections on the display.
  4. Connect the mini-console by HDMI and connect the gun and pedal as directed.
  5. Run the calibration process before playing.
  6. Use the display’s low-latency or game mode if its image processing adds noticeable delay.
  7. Recalibrate after changing screen position, size, aspect ratio or display mode.

The manufacturer advertises support for most modern displays and projectors from roughly 15 inches to more than 150 inches. That should be treated as a product claim, not a guarantee for every model or room.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Tassei Denki’s suggested starting distances are:

Display size Suggested distance
20–32 inches 1.5–2 metres (5.0–6.6 feet)
32–50 inches 2–3 metres (6.6–9.8 feet)

These are recommended starting points rather than hard limits. The official downloads page provides English manuals for the Basic, Premium and Ultimate models.

Projector considerations

Projector support is advertised, but it is more dependent on the room and equipment than television use. Keystone correction can distort the image geometry, projected borders may be less distinct, ambient light can reduce contrast, and projector processing can add input lag. A clean rectangular image, visible edges and a low-latency projector setup will give the tracking system the best chance of working consistently.

600 Lumens Compact Pistol Light Green Laser with Strobe for Home Defense
  • Blinding Pistol Light for Home Defense: When something goes bump in the night, one press of this pistol light lights up the entire room or backyard. CVLIFE true 600 lumens with 160m beam throw helps you identify threats instantly—ideal for nightstand gun, courtyard, and bedroom.
  • Fits Most Pistols, Stays Put: This pistol light laser combo is compatible with Glock-style and standard Picatinny rails. The adjustable slide rail fits compact and full-sized pistols like GL 19, 17, and P320. Stays secure and won’t come off during range sessions. Note: requires a rail. Not ideal for sub-compact pistols without a 1.2-inch rail space.
  • USB Rechargeable Picatinny Flashlight: Built-in battery charges via USB at the bottom—no need to remove this gun light from your pistol, no more hunting for batteries. Running time: about 75 minutes for flashlight, 12 hours for pistol laser only. Keep it charged and ready at all times.
  • Holds Zero Shot After Shot: Adjustable green laser stays on target during live fire. Shock-resistant build reduces recoil drift, so you can practice at the range with confidence. The pistol laser holds zero after hundreds of rounds. Class IIIA laser, less than 5mW.
  • Multiple Modes for Pistol Light and Laser: LED white light (constant or strobe), green laser only, or laser light combo. Great for nighttime security, range training, and even airsoft or BB guns. Whether it’s your nightstand pistol flashlight or your range setup, it’s ready when you are.

Aspect-ratio changes

The original game’s presentation may not match a modern television’s native 16:9 shape. Switching between 16:9 and 4:3 or changing the television’s scaling mode can alter the geometry used for aiming. Community reports describe alignment problems after such changes, but those reports are anecdotal rather than proof of a universal fault. The safe practice is to choose a display mode, calibrate, and avoid changing it during play.

How accurate is it?

The available independent review evidence supports a balanced verdict. G’AIM’E was praised for easy setup, nostalgic appeal and the ability to deliver convincing classic Time Crisis play without a CRT or visible tracking border. It was also reported to experience occasional jitter, small amounts of latency and imperfect accuracy when conditions were less favorable.

Performance can be affected by:

  • Calibration quality.
  • Distance from and angle to the screen.
  • Screen size and visibility of all four edges.
  • Glare, reflections and changing room light.
  • Television image processing and motion settings.
  • Aspect-ratio or resolution changes.

That makes G’AIM’E a strong nostalgia machine, but not a guarantee of competitive-grade precision on every OLED, projector or unusual display installation. The manufacturer’s experience training recognition on thousands of screens may improve general compatibility, but it cannot override a blocked border, severe glare or high display latency.

Troubleshooting common problems

Calibration fails

First check that the camera can see all four screen edges. Clear the area around the display, reduce reflections, avoid a bright window directly behind or beside the screen, and test from the manufacturer’s suggested distance range. Improve ambient light if the room is extremely dark, but avoid adding a bright source that reflects off the panel. Then run calibration again.

Aim drifts or jitters

Recalibrate without changing your distance or stance, clean the gun’s camera lens and keep the lighting stable. If the television has aggressive motion processing or other image enhancements enabled, try game mode or low-latency settings. Recalibrate after changing resolution, scaling or aspect ratio.

The shot feels delayed

Some delay may come from camera processing, but the television or projector can add more. Enable game mode where available and disable unnecessary image processing. G’AIM’E should not be described as zero-latency hardware; the independent review specifically noted occasional latency.

G’AIM’E versus the alternatives

Versus Sinden Lightgun

G’AIM’E is the better fit for someone who wants a self-contained, licensed Time Crisis package with no PC configuration and a physical pedal in the Premium or Ultimate bundle. Sinden is better for a player who wants a broad, configurable PC library including games such as Time Crisis, Point Blank, Virtua Cop and The House of the Dead.

Best Value
CRONHAWK Pistol Light Green Laser Combo
  • Please Note: This pistol light laser combo is designed for Picatinny rails, fits most compact and full size guns; Three holes are available for mounting options (Only One bolt included); The mounting space (from the slot to the trigger guard) must be greater than 16 mm
  • Bright and Compact Pistol Light: This tactical flashlight features a bright light and a strobe option, with a maximum brightness of 700 lumens, the irradiation distance is up to 130 meters; The strobe function has constant strobe and momentary strobe for you to choose
  • Safety and Adjustable Laser Sight: The output of the green laser beam less than 1 mW, Class II, beam distance about 100 m, green laser adds precision and accuracy to your aim; The laser can be adjusted with the wrench included in the package
  • Rechargeable Pistol Light: Built-in rechargeable battery and USB C charging ensures that your gun light will be ready to use when you need it
  • It is equipped with a built-in Non-replaceable flat lithium-ion polymer pouch cell with an approximate-cuboid physical form, No Standalone battery

Sinden normally requires a PC and uses a visible border around the game window, so it offers more flexibility at the cost of additional configuration. G’AIM’E avoids that border and PC dependency for its included games, but its closed library cannot match Sinden’s expansion potential.

Versus a CRT and original GunCon

A CRT with original compatible hardware remains the most historically authentic option because it preserves the display technology the original light guns were designed for. It is also bulky, increasingly difficult to source and dependent on aging consoles, cables and games. G’AIM’E sacrifices some of that original timing fidelity for an HDMI-friendly setup that fits a modern living room.

Versus emulation

Emulation can provide a much larger library, but it generally requires a PC or dedicated emulation device, legally sourced software, emulator configuration and a compatible tracking solution such as Sinden or a Gun4IR-style build. It is the flexible choice, not the convenient choice.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Who should buy G’AIM’E?

Buy it if you mainly want the original Time Crisis experience, value a dedicated system, own a suitable modern display and are willing to calibrate it and manage the room conditions. The Premium bundle is the practical middle ground for players who want the pedal and all four included games. The Ultimate bundle makes the most sense for two-player titles and collectors.

Skip it if you want dozens of light-gun games, user-installed software, Time Crisis 2 through 5, flawless competitive accuracy or guaranteed performance on a small, reflective or obstructed screen. A PC-based Sinden or another configurable light-gun setup is a better direction for flexibility.

What the Kickstarter success tells us

G’AIM’E’s 2025 Kickstarter campaign ran from June 24 to August 23 and, according to campaign-tracking information, raised ¥175,553,524 against a ¥7,000,000 goal from 5,915 backers. That demonstrates substantial interest in modern light-gun hardware, but it does not prove perfect tracking, universal compatibility, long-term durability or future software support.

As of August 18, 2026, G’AIM’E is a funded and released retail product rather than merely a Kickstarter concept. Its official product material also describes a licensing relationship with Bandai Namco, but the hardware remains Tassei Denki’s product and there is no evidence here of a new Bandai Namco-developed Time Crisis sequel.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Verdict

G’AIM’E succeeds at its central promise: it gives modern-TV owners a convenient way to play the original Time Crisis with camera-based aiming and, in the right bundle, the series’ essential foot pedal. It is a credible arcade-style revival, not magic. Calibration, room layout and display latency still matter, and the fixed four-game library sharply limits what the system can become.

For nostalgia-focused players who want the simplest route to licensed Time Crisis play, it is compelling. For anyone seeking an open platform, a large library or guaranteed perfection, it is the wrong tool.
