ZZZ is a HoYoverse urban-fantasy action RPG set around New Eridu and the dangerous Hollows. Its appeal is not just combat: the official PlayStation listing also highlights lively neighborhoods and urban activities. The game aims to pair accessible action with strategic depth.
In a launch-era PlayStation Blog post, HoYoverse producer Zhenyu Li points to Chain Attacks, Perfect Assist, and character switching as central combat mechanics. The post also describes combat-focused commissions for players who want to get into battles directly. Those features suggest a few different ways to look for a similar experience:
- Stylish, expressive fighting: You want attacks that feel dramatic and rewarding to execute.
- Team interaction: You value switching characters and coordinating attacks rather than controlling only one fighter.
- Combat-forward pacing: You want to move between encounters without spending as much time exploring.
- Anime or urban-fantasy presentation: The colorful contemporary setting matters as much as the action.
- A paid alternative: You would rather buy a game than engage with free-to-play systems.
Of these, Devil May Cry 5 is the strongest supported recommendation for stylish action. It is a different kind of game, and its combat is more complicated than ZZZ’s, according to players discussing the comparison.

That is a useful signal about the kind of player it may suit, not proof that the games have equivalent combat systems.
The trade-off is straightforward: this is a recommendation for the feel of expressive action, not for reproducing ZZZ’s full package of team switching, urban-fantasy atmosphere, and combat-focused commissions.
