Control: Ultimate Edition has been cited for steadier frame rates on PS5, while Immortals Fenyx Rising has been cited for its Resolution mode. Those are qualified, title-specific reports—not a current, matched-build ranking. The available evidence also includes an Xbox Series X performance-mode advantage in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
Which games have been reported to favor PS5?
The examples below come from a secondary roundup, not a current controlled test of both consoles on the same patch. Treat them as starting points for checking a specific game’s versions, rather than proof of a lasting advantage.

| Game | Reported PS5 advantage | What the report establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Control: Ultimate Edition | More stable frame rate | PlayStation Universe lists this as a PS5 advantage. It does not identify the patch or provide a matched-condition benchmark in the retrieved material. PlayStation Universe roundup |
| Immortals Fenyx Rising | Resolution in Resolution mode | The roundup describes PS5 as native 4K and Xbox Series X as dynamic 4K in this mode. This is a mode-specific claim from a secondary source, not confirmation of current behavior across patches. PlayStation Universe roundup |
These reports do not establish that PS5 has better image quality or responsiveness in either game, nor that the same console leads in every graphics mode. The cited roundup does not supply enough detail to verify those broader conclusions.
Why “runs better” needs a specific measure
A game can favor one console in one respect and the other console in another. Before comparing versions, define what matters to you:
#1 Best Overall
- Model Number CFI-2000
- Includes DualSense Wireless Controller, 1TB SSD, 2 Horizontal Stand Feet, HDMI Cable, AC power cord, USB cable, printed materials, ASTRO’s PLAYROOM (Pre-installed game)
- Vertical Stand sold seperately
- Frame-rate stability: how consistently the game sustains its target, rather than the highest rate it reaches.
- Frame pacing: whether frames arrive evenly. A stable average can still feel uneven if delivery fluctuates.
- Resolution and image quality: native and dynamic resolution are different; dynamic resolution can change during play. Neither label alone captures every aspect of image quality.
- Responsiveness: how quickly the game responds to input. The examples cited here do not establish a responsiveness winner.
Quality and performance modes may target different outcomes, so a comparison is meaningful only when both consoles are tested in the same mode and gameplay scene.
A counterexample: Metal Gear Solid Delta
Digital Foundry’s analysis, indexed as published August 31, 2025, reports that Xbox Series X generally provides a smoother performance-mode experience than PS5 in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. It also notes that neither version consistently holds 60fps. This is a reminder that a result for one game cannot establish a hardware-wide ranking. Digital Foundry analysis

How to compare two console versions fairly
- Match the edition and patch. Check that the versions are the same game edition and compare them on the same or clearly identified software build.
- Match mode and scene. Compare performance mode with performance mode, or quality mode with quality mode, using the same gameplay conditions.
- Separate peak rate from consistency. A brief high frame rate does not show whether the game sustains its target or delivers frames evenly.
- Assess resolution separately. Note whether resolution is native or dynamic, and avoid treating resolution as a substitute for an overall image-quality assessment.
- Account for the display. Variable refresh rate (VRR), if supported and enabled on the display and console setup, can affect perceived smoothness.
- Check the evidence type and date. A technical analysis with stated conditions is stronger evidence for a performance claim than a roundup that does not specify its test build or method.
Digital Foundry’s Forza Horizon 5 comparison covers PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox versions, but the surfaced description does not establish a PS5-over-Xbox Series X advantage. It should not be counted as a winner example on that basis. Digital Foundry comparison
