GamesBeat Summit 2025 was a two-day games-industry conference held May 19–20 at the Marina del Rey Marriott in Los Angeles. Its “Back to Growth” theme framed a program that covered AI and game development, monetization, investment, player safety, workforce issues and the business of games. The event has passed; the details below describe the program as GamesBeat presented it in May 2025.
How the 2025 agenda was organized
GamesBeat described the event as its 17th annual summit. The planned schedule shifted format between the two days: the first afternoon emphasized concurrent sessions, while the second paired shorter stage talks with roundtables. These were organizer descriptions of the planned program, not an independent account of attendance. See the GamesBeat Summit 2025 agenda and Dean Takahashi’s May 2025 guide to what to expect.
Monday, May 19
Networking was scheduled to begin around 11:30 a.m., followed by concurrent, hour-long sessions starting at 1:30 p.m. Attendees therefore had to choose among discussions happening at the same time rather than expect to see every session.
Tuesday, May 20
The second day was planned around 30-minute talks on the California and Promenade stages, alongside roundtables in the Malibu/Santa Monica and Venice/Peninsula rooms. GamesBeat said the roundtables would not be recorded and would follow Chatham House rules: participants could repeat what was said, but not identify who said it.

What the sessions covered
The “Back to Growth” theme was the conference’s framing, not proof that the games market had returned to growth. The guide combined broad company-strategy conversations with practical discussions of development, publishing and the player experience.
Company strategy, funding and markets
Sessions addressed the future of growth, publishing, funding for indie and startup games, and opportunities in global games markets. These topics were relevant to leaders weighing where to invest and how to reach players across different markets.

AI, development and live games
AI was a prominent thread in the guide, which listed conversations about AI in game creation and production, AI tools, live services, safety and strategy. GamesBeat editorial director Dean Takahashi wrote in his guide, published May 17 and updated June 18, 2025, that “The hype around AI reminds me of some years ago of how we had lots of sessions on blockchain games or the metaverse, but AI is showing early results and we’ve heard that this is what people want to talk about.” That is Takahashi’s explanation of the program’s emphasis, not a finding that AI had delivered a particular business result.
Monetization, retention and mobile
The agenda included conversations about monetization and retention, as well as mobile gaming. Together, these topics focused on the business of sustaining games and audiences, rather than development technology alone.

Player safety, accessibility and workforce
Player safety and child wellbeing, accessibility, ageism and belonging also appeared in the program. Their presence made the agenda broader than a discussion of growth through revenue or production tools: it included questions about who can participate in games and how companies support players and workers.
Games, Hollywood and motion play
The guide included discussion of connections between games and Hollywood, as well as a session on the motion-gaming niche. It referenced Nex Playground in that context; the mention identifies a product connection in the program, not an endorsement, review or test of the device.

What GamesBeat reported about its speakers
GamesBeat’s May 2025 guide said more than 54% of the speakers came from diverse backgrounds and 35% were women. Those are organizer-reported figures; the guide does not establish an independent verification method. They describe the speaker lineup as presented by GamesBeat, not the industry as a whole.
