How the 2025 awards were decided
The awards were organized by the Foundation for Digital Games Culture as part of gamescom. Trophies in the 19 categories were presented on August 22, 2025, at the gamescom studio powered by IGN. Gamescom’s August 18 nominee announcement says an international jury selected nominees, with fans and visitors able to vote in Arts and Platform categories and in Best Booth (Consumer Award), Best Merch and Best Trailer/Announcement. It identifies those three consumer categories as decided exclusively by the community. The published results call the final category Best Trailer (Consumer Award).
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What stands out in the results
- Resident Evil Requiem earned four game-category wins: Best Visuals, Best Audio, Most Epic and Best Sony PlayStation Game. Capcom Entertainment separately won Best Lineup, which is a publisher award rather than another game-category win.
- Hela won both Most Entertaining and Most Wholesome.
- Donkey Kong Bananza won Best Gameplay, while Mario Kart World took Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game.
- The complete awards span game craft, platform-specific recognition and gamescom exhibitors and event features, rather than games alone.
The complete results are listed in Gamescom’s official August 22, 2025 announcement. GameSpot’s winners guide also identifies Resident Evil Requiem as the four-award leader among game categories.
