Gamescom 2025’s public show ran in Cologne from August 20–24, with Opening Night Live (ONL) taking place the evening before, August 19 at 20:00 CEST. The event included far more than that livestream: Xbox and publishers ran later broadcasts, booths offered playable demos, and journalists published hands-on previews and interviews. This roundup separates those formats so a trailer appearance is not mistaken for a playable demo—and a selected publisher recap is not mistaken for a complete event inventory.
Gamescom 2025 dates and schedule

Xbox’s booth announcement listed consumer-show hours of 10:00–20:00 CEST on August 21–22 and 09:00–20:00 on August 23–24. It placed the Xbox booth in Hall 7, by the north entrance. Those are Xbox-specific venue details, not a complete guide to Gamescom’s halls or opening hours. See Xbox Wire’s booth announcement.
Opening Night Live: selected announcements and trailers
ONL was the August 19 showcase. The following is a selection of announcements reported in event coverage, not an official, exhaustive list of everything shown.

Xbox-related announcements highlighted by Microsoft
Microsoft’s August 19 recap says Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 opened its Xbox segment with a look at its cooperative Campaign and teasers for Multiplayer and Zombies. The recap also highlighted new gameplay for The Outer Worlds 2, Ninja Gaiden 4, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants; additional material for Keeper; an Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition expansion and PS5 release; the World of Warcraft: Midnight cinematic; and a teaser for season two of the Fallout television series. This is Microsoft’s selection of Xbox-related news, not a full Gamescom roundup: read the Xbox recap.
Other titles covered from ONL
PCGamesN’s event index lists coverage of Hollow Knight: Silksong, Lords of the Fallen 2, a Sekiro anime adaptation, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4, a Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy XIV collaboration, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Europa Universalis 5, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, Cronos: The New Dawn, Silent Hill f, La Divina Commedia, Fate Trigger, and other announcements. Use its linked reports for title-by-title detail: PCGamesN’s Gamescom 2025 index.
Epic Games Store’s recap offers further detail on selected trailers, including Cronos: The New Dawn, described there as a time-travel survival horror game set in an alternate version of 1980s Poland, and Fate Trigger’s trailer and modes. It also recorded launch dates announced at the time for Silent Hill f, Cronos, Fate Trigger early access, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Those are historical 2025 announcements, not confirmation of current release status. See Epic’s Gamescom 2025 roundup.

Xbox broadcasts and other show-floor programming
ONL was only one part of the schedule. Xbox announced two separate “Live from the Showfloor” broadcasts, on August 20 and 21 at 15:00 CEST. The first day’s announced lineup included ROG Xbox Ally handhelds, Grounded 2, Keeper, and Black Ops 7; the second included Ninja Gaiden 4, Overwatch 2, and The Outer Worlds 2. Xbox said the English-language stream would also be available with German, French, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, and Mexican Spanish, plus ASL and English audio descriptions. These details come from Xbox Wire’s schedule.

At its Hall 8 booth during the public show, Blizzard planned a public Housing demo for World of Warcraft: Midnight and said developer-panel videos would be published after the panels. That booth programming illustrates the kinds of activities that happen beyond a livestream reveal; it should not be confused with an ONL announcement.
Games available to play at the Xbox booth
Xbox said its booth would have over 20 playable titles. Its announcement named the following third-party demos; this is a selected Xbox-booth list, not a Gamescom-wide count or complete list:

Hands-on previews and interviews
A playable booth demo is not the same thing as a journalist’s hands-on account. PCGamesN’s index links previews for Silksong, Resident Evil Requiem, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. GamesRadar+ specifically says its Silksong preview was based on a 30-minute session. Its account characterized the game as favoring aggression and decisive action; treat that as the publication’s impression from a short preview, not a verdict on a complete game or playthrough: GamesRadar+’s Gamescom coverage.

GamesRadar+ also interviewed Silent Hill producer Motoi Okamoto. Discussing how some people classified Silent Hill f, Okamoto said: “We see a lot of people trying to refer to [Silent Hill f] as a ‘Soulslike,’ which we disagree with.” That is Okamoto’s stated view, as reported in the interview, rather than a universal genre consensus.
In the same outlet’s Gamescom interview coverage, Dawn of War 4 creative director Jan Theysen said: “I’m pretty sure that RTS will not be the big genre again,” adding, “It’s more of a niche genre, but it’s a big niche, right?” The comments are his perspective on the genre, not a Gamescom-wide finding.
How to read Gamescom coverage
Announcements, footage, demos, and previews answer different questions. Use the labels and attribution attached to each report:
- Announcement or trailer: establishes what a publisher showed or said, not whether attendees could play the game.
- Playable demo: means the named title was available at the specified booth; it does not imply that every attendee played it or that the demo represents the finished game.
- Hands-on preview: reflects a journalist’s limited session and should be attributed to the publication. Session length and scope matter.
- Publisher recap: is a first-party selection. Xbox’s recap, for example, centers on its own titles and associated news.
Release dates in contemporaneous 2025 roundups should likewise be read as dates announced at that time. The cited event coverage does not establish current availability for those titles.
No Gamescom-wide outcome statistic with an original publishing organization and year is established in the cited coverage here. The concrete “over 20 titles” figure is Xbox’s 2025 statement about its own booth games, not the total number of games at Gamescom.
