GameSir announced the X3 Pro Aurora Stretch Handle in China in July 2024 as a wired, stretchable phone controller with an integrated active cooler. Launch coverage listed a 469-yuan JD.com pre-order price (about $65 at the time) and an August 19, 2024 first-sale date. GameSir’s current global listing uses the name GameSir X3 Pro Stretchable Mobile Gamepad With Integrated Cooler and showed a price of $79.99 when checked on August 18, 2026. Treat the Aurora name, launch price and some compatibility figures as China-launch information rather than automatically current worldwide specifications.
What is the GameSir X3 Pro Aurora?
The X3 Pro is a telescopic USB-C controller that grips a phone between two handles. Its defining feature is an attachable or integrated cooling module intended to remove heat during long gaming sessions. The current GameSir page describes the product as an Android-compatible, wired gamepad with Hall-effect sticks, micro-switch controls, rumble, a six-axis gyroscope and a GameSir App for customization.
Launch coverage called it the X3 Pro Aurora Stretch Handle; GameSir’s present retail page shortens that to X3 Pro. There is no evidence that these names represent two wholly separate controllers, but regional bundles and specifications can differ.

Key hardware features
Hall-effect joystick
Launch reporting says the custom Hall joystick is rated for 5 million cycles. GameSir’s explanation is that electromagnetic sensing avoids the contact wear associated with conventional potentiometer sticks and therefore reduces a common cause of drift. That is a manufacturer claim, not an independent endurance test, and Hall sensors do not make a controller immune to calibration, mechanical, firmware or contamination problems. The current official page confirms GameSir Hall Effect sticks but does not repeat the five-million-cycle figure.
Micro-switch controls and modular parts
The launch specification lists Kailh micro-switch buttons with a claimed 3 million presses. It also describes five included “elite accessories” and replaceable D-pad, stick-head and ABXY components. The current page confirms detachable, replaceable components, micro-switch triggers and ABXY buttons, plus GameSir App customization. Do not assume every accessory shown in promotional images is included in every regional package.
Motion, audio and feedback
- Dual rumble motors.
- Six-axis gyroscope for motion input.
- 3.5 mm headphone jack.
- Carrying case shown among the current product-page features.
How the cooling system works
Launch coverage described a detachable 12 W fan, adjustable fan position and the ability to power the cooler through the controller or use it independently. The current GameSir page also lists maximum efficient cooling power of 12 W, but gives a 900 mm² cooling area. The launch report gave 4,000 mm². Those figures conflict, so they should remain attributed to their respective sources rather than combined into one specification.

The controller has no internal battery. External power is therefore required for cooling, and the current page describes a dual-function Type-C arrangement intended to run the cooler while the phone is charged. Actual charging speed depends on the charger, cable, phone and power-management behavior.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhat cooling can and cannot do
- Removing heat from the phone’s rear surface may help delay thermal throttling during sustained workloads.
- It does not automatically raise frame rates; benefits are largest when heat was already limiting performance.
- Contact must line up with the phone’s hot area, and a thick case may prevent effective contact.
- A fan adds noise, weight and power draw. User discussions mention fan noise, but those comments are anecdotal rather than controlled measurements: user discussion.
Phone, platform and connection compatibility
Published size ranges
The China launch report listed phones from 97.5–180 mm long. GameSir’s current official page lists 110–180 mm. Use the current figure for the retail model you are buying, and do not assume a phone that fitted an Aurora launch bundle will fit every later regional version.
Platforms
The current official listing identifies Android as the compatible platform and specifies a built-in USB-C connection. Launch coverage additionally mentioned HarmonyOS, iPhone 15-series devices and PC use, with a separate cable reportedly required for PC. It also raised Bluetooth without confirming the details. Those older claims should be verified against the exact retail documentation; Bluetooth should not be treated as a confirmed feature.

Physical fit is only the first check. Cases, camera bumps, side buttons and unusual USB-C placement can stop the phone seating correctly, while a wired connection can still fail at the electrical or software level. A game must also support controllers natively or through an appropriate mapping mode.
Specifications that differ by source
| Specification | Launch-era report | Current GameSir page |
|---|---|---|
| Phone length | 97.5–180 mm | 110–180 mm |
| Cooling area | 4,000 mm² | 900 mm² |
| Cooling power | 12 W | Up to 12 W efficient cooling power |
| Platform emphasis | Android, HarmonyOS, iPhone 15 series and PC were reported | Android |
| Weight | Not stated in the launch report | 767.2 g gross weight; not necessarily bare-controller weight |
GameSir USA presents a different approximate weight, so the 767.2 g figure should not be used as the controller-only mass: GameSir USA listing.
Ergonomics and practical trade-offs
A cooler, heat hardware and modular parts make the X3 Pro more substantial than a basic telescopic pad. The current page lists dimensions of approximately 207.46 × 93.27 × 57.38 mm; its 767.2 g figure is labeled gross weight. The layout can be more comfortable than touch controls for long sessions, but it is not necessarily as light or as full-size feeling as a console controller.

Good fit
- Android users with USB-C phones.
- Players whose demanding games trigger thermal throttling.
- Cloud-gaming users who prefer a wired, low-latency link.
- Players who want micro-switch controls, Hall sticks and interchangeable parts.
- Buyers comfortable with external power and additional weight.
Poor fit
- Anyone requiring wireless play or a built-in battery.
- iPhone buyers seeking guaranteed plug-and-play compatibility without checking the current regional listing.
- Users who keep a thick case on the phone.
- Quiet-room players sensitive to fan noise.
- Phones outside the verified range or with awkward port, camera or button placement.
Troubleshooting before returning it
The phone does not fit
Remove the case, check camera-bump and side-button clearance, and verify that the USB-C connector aligns with the phone’s port. Length alone does not guarantee a usable fit.
The controller connects but inputs fail
Confirm that Android recognizes a wired gamepad, open the GameSir App, and check whether the individual game supports controllers. Some titles require key mapping or offer no controller support.
The cooler seems ineffective
Use the phone without its case, align the cooling contact with the hottest region, and provide adequate external power. A cooler back surface is not proof of higher frame rates.
Recommended Free Tools
Charging is slower than expected
Because the controller has no battery, the phone and cooler share power from the external source. Charger output, cable quality, phone limits and pass-through behavior all affect charging speed.
Bottom line for buyers
The GameSir X3 Pro is most compelling as an Android-first, wired telescopic controller for sustained sessions where heat is a real problem. Hall sticks, micro-switch controls, modular parts, rumble, gyro and a headphone jack give it a stronger feature set than a basic phone grip. The integrated 12 W cooler is the differentiator, but it requires external power, adds bulk and may need a case-free, carefully aligned phone. Buyers seeking wireless play, minimum weight or assured current iPhone compatibility should choose a different design or verify the exact regional model before paying.
