The GameSir X5s is a versatile, budget-oriented controller for mobile gaming, but it is not an automatic fit for every phone or play style. GameSir lists support for Switch 2, Switch, iOS, Android phones and tablets, and PC; its connection options vary by platform. The key checks before buying are whether your device fits, whether you need a separately sold wireless dongle, and whether the small sticks suit the games you play.
What the GameSir X5s supports
GameSir’s X5s FAQ lists compatibility with Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android phones and tablets measuring 105–213 mm in length, and PC. Those are manufacturer-stated compatibility claims; check for confirmation if you use a newly released device or an unusual setup.
The controller is not limited to a direct USB-C phone connection. GameSir lists Bluetooth for mobile devices, while its USB-C wired pairings are PC, Steam Deck, Switch, and Switch 2. The FAQ does not list wired USB-C phone operation.
Connection options by platform
| Connection | Platforms listed by GameSir | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth | Switch, Switch 2, mobile devices, and Steam Deck | GameSir’s FAQ does not list PC in its Bluetooth pairings. |
| USB-C wired | PC, Steam Deck, Switch, and Switch 2 | Mobile phones are not listed for wired use. |
| 2.4 GHz wireless | PC, Steam Deck, Switch, and Switch 2 | The wireless dongle is sold separately, according to GameSir. |
Will it fit your phone?
GameSir specifies support for phones and tablets 105–213 mm long and gives the controller’s approximate weight as 174.1 g. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. The stated length range does not guarantee that every phone will fit comfortably with its case attached.

- Measure your phone’s length and compare it with the 105–213 mm range.
- Account for case thickness, camera bumps, and any other protrusions that could interfere with seating the phone.
- Consider whether the resulting grip will feel comfortable during longer sessions; dimensions alone cannot settle that question.
What it offers beyond basic controls
GameSir lists Hall Effect sticks and analog Hall Effect triggers, plus a switchable hair-trigger mode. The controller also has physically swappable ABXY buttons, vibration, Turbo, and GameSir App options for firmware updates and adjustments. GameSir specifies a total battery capacity of 840 mAh. These are manufacturer-reported features and capacity figures; they do not establish real-world battery runtime or performance.
How it feels in play
In its April 6, 2026 review, GamesRadar tested the X5s with GeForce Now on an iPhone. The reviewer found it comfortable for most of the session, but said the smaller sticks became uncomfortable during more frantic moments. That experience is a useful warning for players who rely on quick, precise stick movements, rather than a guarantee of how every player will find the controller.

What to weigh against the price
Tom’s Guide described the X5s as roughly $50 in a roundup published May 1, 2026. That is a dated approximate secondary-source characterization, not a current local price. Check the price and stock where you plan to buy; the available evidence does not establish a live price or regional availability.
For comparison with other controllers, focus on the factors that change how useful the X5s will be for you: local price, compatible platforms and connection modes, phone fit with your case, grip comfort and weight, stick size, trigger behavior, and whether you need 2.4 GHz wireless. If that last connection matters, include the separate dongle in your cost and setup planning.
