Buy tickets and plan activities through the specific convention’s official website or app. Before packing, check that edition’s ticket terms, schedule, cosplay and prop rules, accessibility information, and venue restrictions: policies differ from show to show and can change between editions.
Do I need a ticket, and does it get me into every activity?
Check the official ticket page for the convention and edition you plan to attend. A general badge does not necessarily guarantee entry to every panel, tournament, or other activity. The PAX East FAQ says attendees need a ticket and describes several activity-entry methods: first-come access, pre-registration through the mobile app, or admission managed by an exhibitor. Look up the entry process for each activity you want to attend rather than relying on your badge alone.
Where can I find the schedule, and how do I register?
Use the organizer’s official timetable and the listing for each activity. The gamescom visitor page labels its 2026 schedule a “Provisional timetable for gamescom 2026, subject to change.” PAX East says tournament registration varies and advises attendees to check the activity listing in its mobile app. Recheck the timetable and listings close to the event, since times and registration details may change.
Can I bring cosplay or a prop weapon?
There is no universal convention rule. Read the current cosplay and weapons policy for your exact show, and use its weapons-check process if a prop is uncertain. For example, PAX East directs attendees to its safety policy and weapons-check area. PAX Aus requires simulated costume weapons to be inspected and approved; its prop-arrow rule calls for soft, non-metal, blunted foam or cardboard tips. PAX West and PAX Unplugged have their own cosplay and weapons guidance. Those examples are not interchangeable: follow the policy for the event you are attending.

What gear and personal items can I bring?
Check both the convention’s rules and the venue’s restrictions before packing. A restriction can apply to ordinary personal equipment as well as cosplay props: PAX Aus bars several wheeled recreational devices in the Expo Hall, while gamescom says pets are not allowed on the fairgrounds. For day planning, PAX Aus also suggests queue-friendly games. These examples do not amount to a universal packing list; verify whether your intended items are allowed at your event.
What accessibility help is available?
Look up the organizer’s accessibility information before arrival and follow its stated process for requesting assistance. The PAX East FAQ describes medical badges and notes that access to events can depend on capacity. It also says the convention center is wheelchair accessible, a statement about that venue rather than gaming conventions generally. gamescom provides visitor accessibility information. Check the current page for the specific services, procedures, and capacity limits that apply to your visit.

How should I compare conventions before booking?
Compare the practical policies that determine what you can do and bring, not just the advertised program. Check each show’s official pages for:
- What the ticket includes, how activity entry works, and the applicable entry or refund terms.
- When the schedule is published, whether it is provisional, and how activities handle registration.
- Cosplay weapon approval, required materials, and inspection procedures.
- Venue restrictions on personal gear and other items.
- Available accessibility services and how event capacity affects access.
These details are set by individual organizers and venues. Confirm them on the current official pages for each event and edition before you book and again before you travel.
