Gears of War: E-Day sold an estimated 230,000 copies between its October 1, 2026 advance-access launch and October 6 full release, according to Alinea Analytics. The figure is an industry estimate, not an official sales announcement from Microsoft, Xbox, or Steam.
How Alinea breaks down the 230,000 estimated sales
Alinea Analytics published its estimate in an article by Rhys Elliott on October 9, 2026. It attributes 168,000 paid copies to Steam and 62,000 to Xbox console and PC combined. The report does not separate Xbox console sales from Xbox PC sales.

Game Pass access and Premium upgrades are separate from copies sold
Alinea also estimates that 1.7 million people accessed the game through Game Pass rather than buying a copy. Within that group, it estimates 722,000 subscribers paid for a Premium early-access upgrade. Those figures describe subscription access and paid upgrades, not additional copies sold; they should not be added to the 230,000-copy estimate.

What the revenue estimate says
Alinea estimates total revenue at $37 million: approximately $26 million on Xbox and $11 million on Steam. The article does not provide a reproducible calculation or underlying sales data, so these figures, like its copy estimates, cannot be independently checked from the information it publishes.
#1 Best Overall
- AN ORIGIN STORY BEGINS — Fight alongside Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago in the gripping origin story of Emergence Day, as the Locust Horde erupts from below.
- A DARKER, GRITTIER THREAT — Face reimagined enemies and a terrifying underground invasion that restores the fear, dread, and intensity at the heart of the Gears of War series.
- MULTIPLAYER EVOLVED — Battle in Horde Siege for large‑scale PvE action or prove your skill in refined Versus PvP with greater precision and competitive depth.
- CLASSIC COMBAT, MODERNIZED — Experience signature cover‑based gameplay enhanced with updated movement, traversal, and controls that feel like Gears while playing like something new.
- CO‑OP YOUR WAY — Play online with up to four players across Campaign, Horde Siege, and Versus, or team up locally with 2‑player split‑screen co‑op on console.
How much confidence to put in the number
The 230,000 figure is useful as an attributed estimate, but it is not a verified sales tally. Alinea’s article does not disclose enough methodology or source data to independently confirm the Xbox or total-sales counts, and the researched source contains no separate confirmation from Microsoft, Xbox, Steam, a regulator, or a standards body.
When comparing this estimate with a later report, check that the reporting period and platforms match, and distinguish paid copies from Game Pass access and paid early-access upgrades. A combined Xbox console-and-PC figure, for example, is not directly comparable to a console-only count.
