The Gears of War: Reloaded cross-platform multiplayer beta ran on June 13–15 and June 20–22, 2025, so it is no longer available. The full game launched on August 26, 2025, for Xbox, PC, PlayStation 5, and Steam. Here are the beta dates and access rules, plus what cross-play means for the released game.
When was the Gears of War: Reloaded beta?
The Coalition announced two beta weekends for the game’s Versus multiplayer mode. Both ran from 19:00 UTC on Friday through 19:00 UTC on Sunday:

Those dates have passed. The announcement was published by Xbox Wire on May 5, 2025.
Who could access the beta?
Xbox listed three ways to qualify for the beta:
- Digitally preorder Gears of War: Reloaded for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, or PlayStation 5.
- Have an active Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass membership.
- Own a digital copy of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition purchased before May 5, 2025, at 16:00 UTC.
The original announcement also mentioned physical or digital preorders as a way to receive multiplayer character-skin bonuses. That bonus was separate from the beta access routes above; buying the game now cannot provide entry to an expired event.

What modes and maps were in the beta?
Weekend one: Team Deathmatch
The first weekend offered Team Deathmatch on Gridlock, Raven Down, and Gold Rush.
Weekend two: Team Deathmatch and King of the Hill
The second weekend added King of the Hill on Canals. Team Deathmatch returned with Courtyard and War Machine added to the map selection.

Could Xbox, PC, and PlayStation players play together?
Yes. The beta announcement described cross-play across platforms, and the released game supports cross-play as well. Microsoft’s launch report said Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam players can party together. A Microsoft account was not required for basic cross-play, according to the August 26, 2025 Xbox Wire launch announcement.
Cross-play is not the same as cross-progression. The launch announcement says signing in with a Microsoft account enables cross-progression and cross-platform invites. If you want progress to carry across platforms or need those invites, sign in; simply playing across platforms does not require that account sign-in.

Where can you play the released game?
Gears of War: Reloaded launched August 26, 2025. Xbox’s launch announcement and Microsoft’s availability report list Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PlayStation 5, and Steam. The announcements said it was available day one with Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass. That is launch-period information, not confirmation of current Game Pass inclusion or current pricing.
Xbox announced a $39.99 suggested retail price at launch. This is a historical launch price, not a current price check. The Xbox listing also describes 4K resolution, a 60 FPS campaign, and 120 FPS multiplayer; realized resolution and performance depend on platform and display capability.
