The trade-off is that Performance and Ultimate now come with a 100-hour monthly premium-play allowance under NVIDIA’s current US terms. For frequent players, that limit can matter more than the resolution upgrade.
What GeForce NOW changed in 2024
On November 7, 2024, NVIDIA renamed its Priority membership to Performance and announced three improvements: 1440p streaming, ultrawide-resolution support, and the ability to save in-game graphics settings between sessions. Saved settings can include NVIDIA RTX features in supported games. NVIDIA said the upgrades came with no increase to the monthly membership cost at the time of the announcement. NVIDIA’s announcement describes the changes.
Those options are not a guarantee that every game will stream at 1440p or ultrawide, or that every device and network connection can deliver the maximum available output. A compatible display is useful if you want to see 1440p, but buying a 1440p gaming monitor is not a requirement for using GeForce NOW.
The change was an upgrade to the membership, not a promise of unlimited premium playtime. NVIDIA’s original HotHardware coverage cited a US monthly price of $9.99 at the time; that is historical pricing, not a current or universal rate. HotHardware’s November 2024 report covered the announcement.

How many hours can you play GeForce NOW each month?
NVIDIA’s US FAQ, checked October 4, 2026, says Performance and Ultimate memberships include 100 hours of premium playtime per month. Members can roll over up to 15 unused hours. These are current US terms; check NVIDIA’s membership information and your account for the rules and offers that apply in your region. NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW FAQ
When NVIDIA introduced the limit, it said 94% of members typically stayed within the allowance. That is NVIDIA’s reported figure, not an independently verified measurement. The company’s stated reason for the cap is to maintain service quality, speed and shorter queues.

What happens when you use all 100 hours?
According to NVIDIA’s current US FAQ, a member who exhausts premium hours can buy more premium time or continue with a basic experience until the allowance resets. NVIDIA also says premium members retain access to Install-to-Play games beginning April 30, 2026, even if they have not purchased additional playtime. The FAQ does not establish that the older add-on prices announced in 2024 remain current; check the account portal for the available options and prices.
Can Founders and grandfathered members still play without a limit?
The terms depend on how the account was subscribed and whether membership was maintained. NVIDIA’s current US FAQ says Founders memberships retain unlimited play as long as the membership does not lapse. Upgrading a Founders account to Ultimate subjects it to the monthly limit.

NVIDIA also describes a separate grandfathered unlimited-play arrangement for certain subscribers who purchased a subscription before January 15, 2026. Under the current US FAQ, that unlimited play continues only until the first billing date after January 15, 2026, after which the 100-hour rule applies. This differs from the 2024 promotion, which offered unlimited play through 2025 to paid members who met its eligibility and continuity conditions.
