That is one editorial ranking, not an official verdict: other current guides place the two characters differently, so their value is best judged by role, team fit, investment, and what your account needs.
What the 7.1.0 tier list says about Vesna and Vodyanitsa
Pocket Gamer’s version 7.1.0 guide uses tiers from SS to D and places both Vesna and Vodyanitsa in SS. That gives readers a quick snapshot of the guide’s assessment, but it does not mean the two characters fill the same role or perform equally well in every team.
Other October 2026 lists use different scales and reach different conclusions. The placements below are each publisher’s own labels; an SS rank is not directly interchangeable with a T0 rank.

Icy Veins’ September 23 guide takes a different approach, grouping characters by Main DPS, Sub DPS, and Support rather than assigning the same kind of overall tier labels. It describes Vesna as an Anemo DPS and Vodyanitsa as a support whose kit combines healing and resistance reduction. These differences in scale and criteria help explain why there is no single cross-site consensus ranking.

How to compare the rankings fairly
A tier label is most useful when you know what the guide is measuring. Genshin-Build says its version 7.1 board covers 127 characters across on-field DPS, damage support, and support, with placements tied to assumed constellation levels. Icy Veins cautions that its placements are rough estimates of relative performance within a role. Neither approach should be read as a universal rating of how enjoyable or useful a character will be for every player.
- Role: Compare an on-field damage dealer with other characters competing for that job, and a support with other supports—not by tier letter alone.
- Team fit: Consider whether your roster can enable the reactions and teammate combinations that the character’s role depends on.
- Investment: Check assumed constellation levels and access to key teammates before treating a high placement as an account-specific result.
- Content: Endgame optimization and general exploration do not place the same demands on a team.
- Account value: A character who fills a missing role or strengthens a team you use may be more valuable to you than one ranked higher in a general list.
What Vesna and Vodyanitsa do for a team
Vesna: an Anemo DPS whose value depends on setup
Icy Veins describes Vesna as an Anemo DPS associated with Stellar-Swirl teams. Its assessment notes that her value depends on investment and the teammates available, rather than making her an automatic upgrade for every account. The same guide compares her with Yumemizuki Mizuki, another Stellar-Swirl DPS with overlapping teammates.
That overlap matters when deciding whether Vesna adds something new to your roster. If you already have a team built around Mizuki, compare the characters in the role and lineup you can actually field; a strong general placement alone does not establish that replacing an existing character is worthwhile.
Vodyanitsa: support and sustain utility
Icy Veins describes Vodyanitsa as a support who brings healing, Hydro application, and resistance reduction, with potential weapon and artifact utility. It also cautions that she may not be the standout support for a particular damage dealer, and may represent only a modest upgrade in some situations. Her practical value therefore depends on whether those functions solve a need in your team, not solely on her tier.

A version 7.1 team example
GameWith’s guide, updated October 6, recommends a Stellar-Swirl lineup of Vesna, Vodyanitsa, Odette, and Faruzan. It says Sucrose can replace Faruzan, and that Yumemizuki Mizuki at C2 or higher can be used instead of Vesna with similar performance. These are GameWith’s lineup recommendations, not a universal best-team prescription; apply them in light of your roster and the constellation condition attached to the Mizuki alternative.
The example also shows why judging characters only in isolation can mislead. Vesna’s damage role and Vodyanitsa’s support functions are evaluated within a team context, alongside the other characters supporting the lineup.

Should you pull for Vesna or Vodyanitsa?
The tier lists do not establish a universal pull recommendation. Use them as a starting point, then ask what the character would change on your account:
- Identify the gap. Decide whether you need an on-field DPS, support, healing, Hydro application, or a particular team option.
- Check the team you can build. Compare the recommended teammates with your actual roster, including any constellation requirements that affect the suggested alternatives.
- Compare against what you already use. Vesna and Yumemizuki Mizuki have overlapping Stellar-Swirl teammates, while Vodyanitsa’s support value depends on the needs of the damage dealer she would accompany.
- Use tier labels as context, not a substitute for fit. The October lists disagree on Vodyanitsa’s relative placement, and their scales are not equivalent.
Does a lower tier mean a character cannot clear content?
No. Icy Veins states that every character can clear all content with enough investment, regardless of ranking. Treat a tier list as an estimate of relative performance under the guide’s assumptions, not as proof that a lower-ranked character is unusable.
