Yes—KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind is worth playing on Switch 2 if you already care about the series. The included DLC gives the adventure a more satisfying endgame and adds standout boss fights, but the story remains poorly paced and the port’s uncapped frame rate can fluctuate during visually busy scenes. It is a weak starting point for newcomers.
What’s included in the Switch 2 edition?
Nintendo’s US listing describes a digital Switch 2 edition of KINGDOM HEARTS III with Re Mind included. It estimates a 45.2 GB download and lists TV, tabletop and handheld modes, with single-system play. The listing also identifies the Keyblade Long Night as exclusive to the Switch 2 platform. These are listing details and may change; Nintendo cautions that preorder information may not be final. Check Nintendo’s product listing for current availability and purchase details.
Nintendo says the game is also included in bundle sets. Check what you already own before buying: owners of the KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind Cloud Version qualify for a 50% discount on the Switch 2 version, and buying overlapping content twice is unnecessary.
What Re Mind adds—and why it matters
The base game follows Sora, Donald and Goofy through Disney and Pixar worlds as they face Organization XIII and seek to reunite with Riku and Kairi. Re Mind returns to the climax from another perspective, with Sora trying to rescue Kairi at the Keyblade Graveyard.

Square Enix lists the additional story, a Limitcut episode featuring 13 boss battles, a Secret episode and boss battle, Data Greeting, Slideshow, and a Premium Menu with difficulty settings and gameplay challenges. The DLC requires the base game, but it is already bundled into the Switch 2 edition. Square Enix’s DLC page describes the separate add-on’s contents.
Nintendo Life reviewer Mitch Vogel estimates the epilogue at “five(ish) hours”—an approximate review estimate, not a promised playtime. More importantly, Vogel finds that the extra chapter and difficult endgame encounters make the overall experience feel more complete. The DLC does not fix the base story’s pacing or its low difficulty, but it gives the climax and postgame more weight.

How does the Switch 2 port perform?
Vogel reports crisp 1080p output in handheld mode and what appears to be dynamic 1440p when docked. Those are review observations, not instrumented resolution measurements. The more noticeable concern is the uncapped frame rate: Vogel describes it as generally above 30 fps but prone to sharp variation, with apparent dips into the mid-20s during visually busy moments. The review does not provide frame-time data or a repeatable benchmark method, so treat those figures as an account of play rather than lab results.
The result is playable, but not consistently smooth. The reviewer’s description supports calling this a fair rather than flawless port: the game looks sharp in handheld play, while demanding scenes can feel choppy. The available evidence does not establish a frame-rate cap, a performance mode, or a publisher patch plan.

Is the story a satisfying conclusion?
KINGDOM HEARTS III is built as a culmination, not a self-contained introduction. Its story tries to resolve a large number of ongoing threads, and Vogel says the pacing can make it feel both too long and too short. That unevenness is especially apparent in the base game’s climax; Re Mind revisits and expands it, but does not erase the underlying problems.
Even with those shortcomings, Vogel calls it an enjoyable and engaging action RPG. The combat and exploration, expanded Gummi Ship content, and more substantial endgame help the adventure work as a game even when its narrative does not land cleanly. Nintendo Life rated the Switch 2 release 7/10, praising the combat and Re Mind while criticizing the story and unstable uncapped frame rate. Should newcomers start here?
No. The story depends on a serialized saga, and the emotional stakes assume familiarity with earlier events and characters. Nintendo Life specifically recommends against starting here if you are new to the series. Square Enix presents earlier collections as a route through the games, but the sources do not establish a minimum set of titles a newcomer must play first. Its collection page is a useful place to explore that route.
For established fans, the question is less whether KINGDOM HEARTS III is a perfect conclusion than whether its combat, worlds and expanded ending are worth experiencing on this hardware. If the answer is yes, the bundled DLC makes this a more complete package than the base adventure alone. If smooth performance is your priority, the reported frame-rate fluctuations are a meaningful caveat.
