Before wishing, you choose one listed 5-star item as your Designated Item. The rules then determine whether your 5-star results are characters or weapons, how the selected item is guaranteed, and which progress carries to a later Chronicled Wish.
How does Chronicled Wish work?
Each Chronicled Wish has its own listed 5-star character and weapon pool, plus listed 4-star and 3-star items. Before making a wish, select one 5-star item from the current event as your Designated Item. If you select a character, 5-star results on that banner are characters; if you select a weapon, 5-star results are weapons. Chronicled Wish uses Intertwined Fate.
The available items are not fixed. HoYoverse says eligible event-exclusive 5-star characters must have appeared in Character Event Wish or Character Event Wish-2 at least three times and must not have appeared in recent Event Wishes. The item list may change with each Chronicled Wish period. See HoYoverse’s Chronicled Wish Rules & FAQ for the published eligibility rules.
What are the Chronicled Wish guarantees?
5-star guarantee and the Designated Item
HoYoverse states that a 5-star item is guaranteed within 90 wishes. When a 5-star is obtained, the FAQ gives a 50.000% chance that it will be your Designated Item. These are the published game rules, not an independent study of player results.

If that 5-star is not your Designated Item, you receive one Fate Point. With one Fate Point—the maximum—the next 5-star item on that Chronicled Wish is guaranteed to be the selected item. Getting your Designated Item or changing your selection resets Fate Points. HoYoverse also says at least one 4-star-or-higher item is guaranteed every 10 attempts.
Choose carefully before spending wishes
Because changing the designated selection resets Fate Points, decide which eligible 5-star you want before wishing. The selected category also controls the category of 5-star results: choosing a character means 5-star characters, while choosing a weapon means 5-star weapons.
Does Chronicled Wish pity carry over?
Yes. The Chronicled Wish guarantee count carries forward to the next Chronicled Wish, and it is separate from the guarantee counts for other Wish types. HoYoverse’s Version Luna V Phase I notice also states that Chronicled Wish’s count is independent of other Wish types: official notice. Do not treat this pity as shared with Character Event Wish or Epitome Invocation.

Yes. Fate Points do not carry to the next Chronicled Wish; they reset to zero when the current event ends. HoYoverse’s FAQ puts it plainly: “Your Fate Points will not be carried over to the next ‘Chronicled Wish.’ Your Fate Points will be reset to 0 when the current ‘Chronicled Wish’ ends.”

That makes the two kinds of progress different: the guarantee count persists to a later Chronicled Wish, but a Fate Point earned by missing your selected item expires when the current one ends.

How to check the current roster and dates
Chronicled Wish appears from time to time, and its roster and dates vary. Check the active in-game Wish Details and the corresponding official event notice before deciding whether to spend Intertwined Fate. Past notices show why checking matters: HoYoverse’s February 23, 2026 Luna V Phase I notice listed “Ode to the Dawn Breeze,” including Eula, Mona, Albedo, Klee, Diluc and Jean. Its April 23, 2026 Luna VI Phase II notice listed “Dewlit Tranquility,” scheduled for April 28 through May 19, 2026, with Emilie, Clorinde, Sigewinne, Navia and Lyney among its 5-star characters (official notice). These are historical examples, not confirmation of a live banner on October 8, 2026; the official notices cited here do not establish a next return date.
