Build Xianyun to fit the team, not a universal tier list: first get enough Energy Recharge to use her Burst every rotation, then add ATK for her healing and plunge support. Choose artifacts and a weapon around the carry’s damage type, the team’s existing buffs, and how often the team can land ground-impact plunges.
What Xianyun does for a team
Xianyun is a five-star Anemo Catalyst support who heals the party, enables higher jumps, and helps characters build around Plunging Attacks. Her Elemental Burst summons Starwicker, provides healing over time, increases the active character’s jump height, and begins with eight Adeptal Assistance stacks. Those stacks support her ATK-scaling plunge buff and are consumed as plunge attacks occur. KeqingMains’ Xianyun guide describes these core mechanics.
The buff’s scope matters when choosing a carry: Xianyun’s A4 passive increases the damage of a plunge’s shockwave when the attack makes contact with the ground. It does not boost midair collisions with enemies. Its base bonus scales with Xianyun’s ATK and reaches its effective cap at 4,500 ATK, including team buffs; raising her talent levels does not increase this passive’s buff. KeqingMains’ guide, updated for Version 4.7, gives these mechanics and the cap.
Her Elemental Skill creates an enhanced Driftcloud Wave plunge and is also useful for movement. In combat, using all three leaps can take too much time in pre-C6 rotations; one Skill use is generally more rotation-efficient. Multiple leaps can still be useful for exploration. KeqingMains’ guide distinguishes the combat and exploration uses.

Build priorities: Burst uptime before ATK
Energy Recharge depends on the team
Prioritize enough Energy Recharge to cast Xianyun’s Burst every rotation. KeqingMains’ Version 4.7 example requirements range from 220–300% ER for solo Anemo with weapons other than Crane’s Echoing Call, to 200–210% in a Xiao team and 185–195% with Xiao plus Faruzan. These are team- and rotation-dependent estimates, not universal targets: weapon, particle collection, Favonius procs from teammates, and the number of plunges all affect energy needs. Calculate for your own rotation rather than copying a single number. KeqingMains’ ER guidance gives the cited ranges.
Then invest in ATK
Once Burst uptime is reliable, ATK improves both Xianyun’s healing and her plunge buff. A support-oriented starting setup is ER% or ATK% sands, ATK% goblet, and ATK% circlet. If you use Favonius Codex, a CRIT Rate circlet can help trigger its passive. Stop treating ATK as an unlimited goal: the cited plunge-buff scaling caps at an effective 4,500 ATK, counting team buffs. KeqingMains’ build and buff details support these choices.
Talent levels
Prioritize Burst, then Skill; normal attacks are generally not worth leveling for a support build. Her Burst supplies the healing and central support function, while the A4 plunge buff comes from a passive and does not grow with talent levels. KeqingMains’ talent guidance separates Burst value from the passive buff.
Artifacts: choose for the carry and the rest of the team
There is no single set that wins in every Xianyun team. Check the carry’s damage type, the elements available to Swirl, and whether a teammate already provides a set effect before committing to a four-piece bonus. KeqingMains compares the following options in its Version 4.7 guide.

| Set | When it fits | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Viridescent Venerer (4-piece) | Useful when the team has a Swirlable Cryo, Electro, Hydro, or Pyro damage dealer. | Less valuable in Xiao/Faruzan/Furina teams because it does not buff Xiao’s Anemo damage, although it can still help Furina. |
| Ocean-Hued Clam (4-piece) | A healing-linked option that adds personal damage through its bubble. | Its relative value falls when more of the team’s damage comes from the on-field plunge carry. |
| Noblesse Oblige (4-piece) | Use when no teammate already carries it; KeqingMains particularly favors it over Viridescent Venerer in Xiao teams. | Check for an existing holder rather than duplicating a non-stacking set effect. |
| Song of Days Past (4-piece) | A viable choice if you already have a suitable set. | KeqingMains says Ocean-Hued Clam generally gives more value through bubble damage. |
| Mixed two-piece sets | Use ATK%, ER%, Healing Bonus%, or Anemo DMG combinations while farming. | For a mixed set, KeqingMains identifies 2-piece ATK% plus 2-piece ER% as the best pairing for her plunge buff and energy needs. |
The practical choice is whichever set strengthens this team without sacrificing Burst uptime or duplicating a teammate’s non-stacking effect. For example, Viridescent Venerer’s value depends on whether there is a Swirlable damage dealer; Xiao’s Anemo damage does not receive its resistance shred.
Weapons: balance ATK, energy, and team support
Crane’s Echoing Call is Xianyun’s signature and the guide-listed best-in-slot option, with ATK, reduced energy pressure, and Plunging Attack support for the team. It is an option, not a requirement: a weapon that helps her reach Burst uptime or provides useful ATK can be the better fit for an account’s roster and rotation. Icy Veins lists Memory of Dust, Skyward Atlas, Cashflow Supervision, Flowing Purity, Oathsworn Eye, and Favonius Codex as alternatives in its Xianyun build guide, last updated September 27, 2025.

- Need more ATK? Consider an ATK-oriented option to support her healing and plunge buff, while keeping the 4,500 effective ATK cap in mind.
- Need more energy? Favor a solution that helps meet the actual rotation’s ER requirement; Favonius Codex is among the listed alternatives and can reward building enough CRIT Rate to trigger its passive.
- Want team plunge support? Crane’s Echoing Call is the signature option identified for that role, but whether its benefits are worth pursuing depends on banner availability and your existing energy generation.
The alternatives above are the options named by Icy Veins, not a claim that every weapon performs identically or is equally available. Check current patch details and your own weapon roster before treating any ranking as definitive.

Evaluate a team on three points: whether its carry can land frequent ground-impact plunges to use Xianyun’s buff, whether the team can generate enough energy for her Burst, and whether the team needs Anemo support, reaction support, or a particular artifact effect. GameWith’s team guide, updated October 3, 2026, includes these archetypes and examples: GameWith’s Xianyun team guide.

Xiao hypercarry
Xiao, Faruzan, Furina, and Xianyun form a plunge-focused team: Xianyun heals and supports the plunge plan, while Faruzan supports Anemo damage. GameWith’s sample rotation is Furina Skill and Burst, Faruzan Skill and charged attack followed by Burst, Xianyun Burst, then Xiao’s Skill twice and Burst into plunges. The rotation is an example, not a universal script; energy and execution depend on the team and player.
Varesa plunge carry
Varesa is another carry represented in GameWith’s plunge-oriented team examples. Consider her when you want to build around Xianyun’s plunge support rather than assuming the team must use Xiao.
Gaming Vaporize
Pair Gaming with Xianyun and Hydro teammates to support his Plunging Attacks and Vaporize reactions. This archetype uses Xianyun’s plunge access alongside reaction support rather than relying on an Anemo hypercarry plan.
Diluc Dragon Strike
A plunge-enabling Diluc team aims to combine his high plunges with Vaporize or Melt reactions. Its appeal depends on being able to execute the plunge approach and support the desired reaction; it is not simply a drop-in replacement for a conventional Diluc rotation.
How to settle on a build
- Choose the carry and rotation. Confirm the character can make ground-impact plunges often enough to use Xianyun’s limited buff stacks.
- Check energy needs. Account for whether Xianyun is the team’s only Anemo character, the weapon, particle collection, teammate Favonius procs, and planned plunge count; target Burst use every rotation.
- Choose the artifact set around the team. Check the carry’s damage type, available Swirlable elements, and any existing Noblesse or other set holder.
- Set main stats and weapon to close the remaining gaps. Use ER where needed for uptime, then ATK for healing and buff scaling; consider Favonius Codex and CRIT Rate if its passive is part of the plan.
- Invest in talents accordingly. Level Burst ahead of Skill for support value; do not level talents expecting a stronger A4 plunge buff.
KeqingMains’ detailed energy figures are labeled for Version 4.7, Icy Veins’ weapon list was updated in 2025, and GameWith’s cited team page was updated October 3, 2026. The first two sources’ recommendations may not reflect every later patch change; the game-team examples provide a more recent snapshot, not proof that one composition is best for every roster.
