If Genshin Impact on PS5 says “failed to connect to server,” gets stuck loading, lags, or keeps disconnecting, first check PlayStation Network’s live status. If PSN is available, work through the console and network checks below, changing one thing at a time so you can see whether the symptom changes. These steps can help identify or resolve a local connection problem, but they cannot fix an outage or guarantee a cure.
Start by identifying the error and checking PSN
Check the PlayStation Service Status page before changing settings. Its status is live and can change, so use the page itself rather than relying on an older report. If PlayStation Network has an issue, wait and try again after service is restored.
Note what happens and when: a failed login, a loading screen that never finishes, lag during play, or a disconnect after you have entered the game. HoYoverse says errors 1001, 400_0, Global Distribution Error, and loading-screen stalls can indicate a network connection issue; they do not, by themselves, identify which part of the connection is responsible. Try these 10 checks, in order
1. Restart the PS5
Fully restart the console, then launch Genshin Impact again. Both HoYoverse and PlayStation include a restart among their troubleshooting steps for connection or login problems. If the game reconnects, note whether the problem returns later.

2. Restart your modem and router
Restart the network equipment and let it reconnect before testing the game. For PlayStation error NW-102650-4 specifically, PlayStation instructs users to turn off the modem and router and wait at least five minutes before restarting them. That interval is guidance for that PS5 error, not a universal Genshin requirement. See PlayStation’s NW-102650-4 troubleshooting steps.
3. Disable VPNs, proxies, and network-filtering software
Temporarily turn off any VPN, proxy, or third-party network software on the connection path, then retry. HoYoverse lists these as possible sources of connection trouble for the errors covered by its login-error guidance and connection-error guidance. If you use a managed or workplace network, its administrator may control these settings.

A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
4. Improve the PS5’s Wi-Fi signal
If the console uses Wi-Fi, move it closer to the router and reduce obstacles between them. A weak or inconsistent signal can make a game connection unreliable. HoYoverse recommends improving the connection’s stability and trying a stronger signal for recurring disconnects (connection guidance).
5. Test with Ethernet, if available
Connect the PS5 to the router with an Ethernet cable and retry the game. Use a cable you already own if possible; buying one is optional. A wired test changes the console’s link to the router, which can help distinguish a Wi-Fi problem from an issue elsewhere. It will not rule out an ISP, PSN, or game-service problem. Both HoYoverse and PlayStation recommend trying a wired connection where possible.

6. Reduce traffic on your home network
Pause large downloads or streams and disconnect devices that are not in use, then test Genshin Impact again. HoYoverse recommends reducing the number of devices sharing the connection when investigating disconnections (connection guidance).
7. Try another network as a diagnostic test
If you have a practical alternative, connect the PS5 to another network and see whether the same error occurs. HoYoverse recommends switching networks to help determine whether the issue is specific to the usual connection (login-error guidance; connection guidance). Treat this as a comparison, not a recommended permanent setup: a mobile hotspot, for example, may have its own data limits or signal problems.

8. Compare the results instead of changing several things at once
After each test, record whether the error changed and whether it was continuous or intermittent. Compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet, and your usual network with an alternative one if available. Note the error code and when it appeared. These comparisons can help narrow down whether the symptom changes with the console’s connection, the home network, or the network being used, but they do not prove the cause or establish that PSN or HoYoverse’s service is at fault.
9. Check account region and server if progress appears missing
If the concern is an unexpected server or apparent missing progress—not a failed connection—check that you are using the intended PSN account and login method before changing network settings. HoYoverse says the Genshin Impact server on PlayStation is determined by the region of the PSN account. Its PlayStation server and account guidance explains what to check.

10. Contact HoYoverse if the problem persists
When reporting a persistent error, include the exact code and a screenshot; HoYoverse also requests your in-game UID for connection errors. For login problems, provide the server, platform, region or country, internet provider, connection type (Wi-Fi or wired), and a screenshot or video if available. These details help describe the conditions in which the issue occurs. Use the relevant HoYoverse support guidance.

PlayStation’s instructions for error NW-102650-4 include router firmware updates, manual static IP configuration, temporary DNS changes, and these ports: TCP 80, 443, 3478, 3479, 3480; UDP 3478, 3479, 49152–65535. Those settings are tied to PlayStation’s specific error guidance; they are not established as required fixes for every Genshin Impact connection issue. Consult your router manufacturer or internet provider before changing router settings. PlayStation’s instructions are at its NW-102650-4 support page.
DNS advice depends on the problem being addressed: HoYoverse says to leave DNS on automatic for the login errors covered by its guidance, while PlayStation mentions a temporary DNS change for NW-102650-4. Do not treat the latter as a general Genshin fix.
