Since those pickups help fill the meter for an Elemental Burst, more Energy Recharge can help a character get back to a Burst sooner—but it does not lower the Burst’s energy cost or shorten its cooldown.
How Energy Recharge works
When elemental particles or orbs reach a character, they restore energy toward that character’s Elemental Burst. Energy Recharge acts as a multiplier on the energy gained from those pickups. The amount restored also depends on the pickup’s source and element, whether the character is active or off field, and party size.
For example, at 100% Energy Recharge, an active character receives 3 energy from one same-element elemental particle. This is a baseline example: a different particle or orb, an off-field character, or a different Energy Recharge value can change the amount. The Energy page explains the factors that affect particle energy.
What Energy Recharge does not change
- Burst cost: It does not reduce the energy a character’s Burst requires.
- Burst cooldown: It does not shorten the time before the Burst can be used again.
- Direct energy restoration: Energy Recharge does not increase effects that grant energy directly rather than through particles or orbs.
For example, The Exile artifact set provides +20% Energy Recharge from its two-piece effect, while its four-piece effect directly regenerates energy for other party members after a Burst. Energy Recharge affects the former stat, not the latter direct-restoration effect. The Exile set page describes these effects.

How to check a character’s Burst cost
Burst energy requirements vary by character. In game, open the character’s Talents menu and check the Elemental Burst’s Skill Attributes for its energy cost. That character-specific value is the starting point for judging how much energy the character needs.
What determines how much energy a character gets
- Particle or orb source: Different sources can restore different amounts.
- Elemental match: A particle matching the receiving character’s element can restore a different amount than one of another element.
- Field status: Energy received by the active character differs from energy received by characters off field.
- Energy Recharge: The stat increases energy recovered from particles and orbs.
- Party size: The energy calculation also takes party size into account.
These factors mean the same pickup is not necessarily worth the same amount to every character in a party. The in-game energy cost and the team’s particle generation both matter.

There is no single Energy Recharge target that applies to every character or team. To assess whether a character can use their Burst when needed, consider the character’s Burst cost alongside the team’s particle generation, elemental matching, who catches particles while active, how much energy off-field members receive, party size, and any direct energy-restoration effects. A number without its rotation and team context is not a reliable universal recommendation.
