Genshin Impact Version 5.0 launched on August 28, 2024, bringing Natlan—the sixth major nation of Teyvat—into the game. The update, titled “Flowers Resplendent on the Sun-Scorched Sojourn,” opened three of Natlan’s six tribes and introduced new traversal mechanics, characters, and quests.
When did Natlan release in Genshin Impact?

What did the Natlan update add?
Three tribes and Saurian traversal
Natlan lies west of Sumeru’s Desert of Hadramaveth. Its landscape includes canyons, cliffs, flowing water, hot springs, and volcanoes. Version 5.0 introduced players to three of the nation’s six tribes: the Children of Echoes, the Scions of the Canopy, and the People of the Springs.
Saurians—dragons described as having evolved alongside humans—provided ways to cross Natlan’s varied terrain. Players could temporarily indwell them to use their movement abilities:

Phlogiston and Nightsoul’s Blessing
Phlogiston is a Pyro-related resource used for movement and combat. Saurian abilities consume their own Phlogiston bar, while Natlan characters have a Phlogiston bar above their HP bar. Spiritways also provide fast routes for Koholasaurus and People of the Springs warriors.
Natlan warriors can gain Nightsoul’s Blessing through Phlogiston Engravings. Glowing patterns indicate when the blessing is active.
Three featured playable characters

All three could locate and mark local specialties, with a different party benefit for each: Kachina restored stamina, Kinich increased movement speed, and Mualani restored Phlogiston. Kachina was also available as a reward for completing Act I of Natlan’s Archon Quest.
Tribal Chronicles and reputation
Natlan’s Reputation System added Tribal Chronicles, a new three-act quest series for each tribe that replaced Natlan Story Quests. Bounties and Supply Notices became available at each tribe’s Obsidian Totem Pole. The update also included World Quests and Archon Quests.

How to get to Natlan
Version 5.0 eased the route to the new region. After completing Mondstadt’s Prologue Act III, players could reach Natlan using an unlocked entrance waypoint. For the Natlan Archon Quests, players at Adventure Rank 28 or above who had completed Liyue Chapter I Act III could begin without first completing the prerequisite quests for other nations.
