If Genshin Impact stops at a white screen before the logo appears, HoYoverse’s PC FAQ recommends installing DirectX 11: run the game’s bundled DXSETUP.exe if the installation includes it, or download and install DirectX 11 if it does not. This guidance covers the specific PC launch symptom; a white screen on another platform or at a different point may need different troubleshooting.
1. Install DirectX 11 from the game folder
HoYoverse’s PC FAQ gives a symptom-specific instruction for a white screen before the Genshin Impact logo:
- Open the folder where Genshin Impact is installed.
- Look for a folder named
DXSETUP. - If it is present, open it and run
DXSETUP.exeto install DirectX 11. Restart the game afterward. - If the
DXSETUPfolder is absent, download and install DirectX 11, then try launching the game again.
DirectX 11 is also listed in HoYoverse’s current PC system requirements. The FAQ’s instruction is a recommended troubleshooting step, not a guarantee that DirectX is the cause or that installation will resolve every case.
2. Check that your PC meets the current requirements
HoYoverse’s PC requirements, updated November 11, 2025, set these minimum and recommended specifications:

These are HoYoverse’s published PC requirements, not a diagnosis of the white screen. The company says storage needs may increase with future updates. It recommends an SSD for a smoother gaming experience, but does not identify an SSD as a fix for this launch symptom. See the full Genshin Impact system requirements.
3. Repair files and check graphics drivers
If the DirectX step does not help, try HoYoverse’s general troubleshooting guidance for crashing, lagging, or freezing. These checks may help diagnose launch problems, but HoYoverse does not identify them as a guaranteed white-screen fix.

- Check file integrity: use the wrench icon on the login screen, or the Resources menu if you can reach it in-game, to run the integrity check.
- Close unneeded apps: shut down other programs and try launching the game again.
- Check graphics drivers: confirm that the PC’s graphics drivers are current. If they already are, HoYoverse suggests a clean reinstall of the drivers.

4. Use HoYoPlay repair or reinstall through official channels
If the problem began during a download or update, HoYoverse advises using Repair Now in HoYoPlay, restarting the device, and reinstalling from an official source if the issue continues. Its download and update troubleshooting article specifies the official website for PC downloads and the App Store or Google Play for mobile reinstalls. The PC white-screen FAQ also says, “Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.” Reinstalling is an official option, but it is more disruptive than trying the bundled DirectX installer first.

5. Collect logs before restarting and contact support
If the white screen persists, capture it and gather the details HoYoverse requests. Save the logs while the error is happening: they reset when the game restarts.
- Your player UID, a screenshot or video of the white screen, and a detailed description of what happens.
- Your operating system and device details, plus your internet service provider.
- For PC: processor, graphics card, RAM, the date and time the issue occurred, and the antivirus name and version.

Send the evidence to HoYoverse support with your report. The logs and system details can help support investigate what is happening on your particular PC.
